normally lovely, currently awful
I live locally and come and play here 3/4 times a year, mainly in the summer.i played yesterday and the whole course was a mess.
the tee boxes had divots everywhere with no way to fill, it didn't look like the greenkeepers had filled them either, the fairways were as long as rough and a yard off the fairway became very difficult to find your ball.
The greens had just been holotined which is fine however they had tractor marks and scrape marks randomly on the greens.
I love this course when its at its best.
Such a shame about the current condition.
clubhouse and staff all friendly as always...

Played the course December 2015. Back 9 holes were closed, we were not informed of this or contacted, so be aware. Course was virtually unplayable, Lost balls on the middle of fairways, Emailed the club to voice our concerns, and they were not interested at all, Unfortunately I would not recommend this course

Disappointing Greens
A great location and wonderful parkland setting. I enjoyed the course layout and challenges, but overall the course was let down by the poor state of the greens. It doesn't seem that any work has been done on them his summer, and this is not helped by the significant number of unrepaired ball divot marks on every green.(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 94 Handicap: 19.6)

Played 25/3/19. As a local the only thing that stops me joining is the state of the course, . Fairways seem pock marked from balls plugging in the recent wet weather and the greens from what looks like unrepaired pitch marks rather than hollow tining. I fear the whole thing might be pretty grim in wet periods. Shame; glorious location and back 9 super splendid (if tight) and front 9 not too shabby. And the bar is still open if you finish after, say, 6pm which makes a pleasant change. I can put up with all this a few times a year because it is such a pleasant spot but not twice a week.Reviewer Rating

Played again after being impressed last summer. Unfortunately it wasn't as good. Had a terribly slow 4 ball in front. Took us 4.5 hours to get round as a two ball.
The greens are awful. Full of ruts,scrapes and what can only be describes as hundreds of pitch marks. I had 2 putts heading for the hole hit a rut turn 45° catching a slope and ending up off the green. Some tee boxes were also in bad shape.
One in particular resembled a goal mouth at my local sports rec.
On the plus side the bunkers were the best I've seen anywhere this summer.

Loads of bunkers
A really nice golf course.Well picked out around trees with a lot of strategically placed bunkers meaning the 3 & 5 woods were used a lot more.
The greens were great except for loads of pitch marks, which is disappointing. Most of the greens seem to have a slope or ridge of some sort & look out for the 'valley' on the 17th!
I really enjoyed the course & would definitely play again if in the area.

Course was very wet. We played winter rules but it was a struggle to define the fairway. That said greens were good and rolled well.

the club was good all around although the weather did have an effect on the grass and the were lots of water which some were not easy to see on the distance

Nice course
Very nice course, great layout, love the doglegs. Optimised the use of the estate well. However as soft as the greens are, they need a little more love. Brown spots, looked diseased unfortunately but they still performed well.Reviewer Rating

An enjoyable and well established course which was enjoyable to play but let down by teeing areas that lacked maintenance and bunkers that were short of sand and had grass growing in them.

Amazingly good value
Really nice condition of tees / fairways / greens, course is challenging but not impossibly difficult, staff very welcoming, beer, food and facilities very good. Clubhouse smart and well equipped. And ... it's amazingly good value too ... what's not to like?Reviewer Rating
