Ok

Not the best course but I suppose good value for a group
Set on a large plot
Liked the “natural” looking bunkers
Course Rock hard
Got lost on course
Some holes had no proper signage
Some holes not on my garmin
Excellent fish and chips
Ball struggles to hold when chipping on green as Rockhard but putting was slow

Not worth the £36 it’s advertised at for a morning weekend round, course still needs plenty of improvement to be worth that, saying that greens were in good condition.

I have just left oakmere having been a member for several years. Loved the coarse, but recently somehow lost its way. Fortune spent on new bunkers etc, looked really good but after one season they are back to their shabby look. Fairways were being cut when there was no grass, to me that is a waste of time and energy when other areas needed attention, the effect it was having on the fairways was a further compaction of the soil which would have an adverse effect. We did bring this up in conversation but I believe members are not listened to. Sad really

played the commanders course on a groupon deal and like a previous reviewee, found this to be a 9 hole course in the disguise of an 18 hole course, had much better deals at other genuine 18 hole courses that include a meal as well.Got bored playing the same holes twice from slightly different tees, and not enough hazards and challenging tee positions to make the course a decent test, sounds like the Admiral course is a more genuine challenge, wish our deal had been for there instead.

Commanders Course - I'd concur with the previous reviewer who came here with the Groupon deal. Complete scam to pretend that they were offering a genuine 18 hole golf experience costing over £100 for a 4-ball when in truth it was just playing a 9 hole course twice. The tale about being made to wait for members and other groups to go out is true too. £12 via Teeofftimes is about right for this experience.

In contrast the Admirals Course is the real deal and highly recommended.

The bar & food area are very attractive. Well worth a visit if you can get on the Admirals course for a reasonable rate.

We visited Oakmere park thanks to a deal through Groupon which just mentioned '18 holes of golf'. Looking on the website and the reviews the 18 hole Admirals course looked good and so we took up the offer.

On arrival the golf club looks like an excellent facility, although we didn't use any other facilites. However, we then get told we're on the Commanders course. This is a 9 hole course although it has 18 different tee's so that each of the nine holes looks slightly different from the second tee, although exactly the same once you're on the fairway. I found this a ridiculous concept as once you are stood on the 10th tee there's also someone on the 1st tee waiting to play the same hole. The other bizzare fact is that for each physical 'hole' there will be one good tee and one disgraceful tee on a patch of mud! But it wasn't that the outgoing 9 tess were good and the back 9 bad, the good tee's and bad tee's were mixed throughout the 18.

The Commanders course itself is set in some lovely countryside but the quality of it does not do that justice. I've never seen so much GUR - sometimes there's so many white lines on the ground that you don't know which side of it you are, as the quality of the ground is just as bad either side. My mate played a short out of the short rough and struck a pebble which has dented his Vokey wedge, so he wasn't happy at all. The fairways were long and unfairwaylike but the bunkers weren't so bad, i've seen worse, but bizarrely the greens were some of the best and trickiest i've played on.

All in all, it is worth the tenner we paid but not much more. I was very disappointed that we travelled long way to play such an average course and such a strange setup and actually feel that the club dupe people into this by making people think they are playing the 'proper' admirals course.

Short course but in good nick

Considering the 18 holes was closed and so were the surrounding courses, this was in perfectly fine state to play after the storms the day/night before. In fact this course showed no signs of standing water and why we could not have trolleys is anyones guess. Poor Glyn had to give up!

Played 3rd May, after playing in March and enjoyed the course then, I must admit I was a little disappointed on my return. Really like the layout but felt on this occasion the course was playing a a little under par. Greens were slow and bobbly and still had not recovered from winter and the bunkers a little untidy and a few holding water. Still great value 2ball for 26 and will be back in summer. Staff friendly.

Great course but ruined by slow play!

Played in a 3 ball and teed off at 11.00am - Didn't get done until just before 4.00pm! We were continually stuck behind slow players the whole way round. I can respect the fact that some players are slower than others, but having no concern about play behind and perhaps all 4 players didn't need to stop by the side of each persons shot before moving to their own. If I played there again I?d definitely make sure there wasn't a ladies society on right before.
