Well laid out for a compact nine hole (18 tee) set up. Extremely friendly staff/comity/players made my father and I feel more than welcome. Came for the golf stayed for the cake, well my dad did anyway. It\'s definitely up there with the short list as I\'m looking to join a club just now.

An interesting course with some challenging holes. We have plated Muthill twice this week and been the only ones on the course. At £10 for 9 holes and £4 for a junior it's very good value - worth checking their website for even better offers.

This is a fantastic (but quite short) 9 hole course, kept interesting by having 18 tees so second time around is a bit different. There are no very long holes, but small greens protected by bunkers & trees with narrow fairways mean you need to drive straight and your short game gets a good work out. This is a course that punishes a slice. The 5th is particularly trying featuring raised green close to a back wall (and out of bounds), protected by an approach bunker and some long rough - be accurate or be well short for a controlled chip up to the green! The green keeper does a very good job with both the fairways and greens in excellent nick even for mid April. The course is well drained and is usually playable in all but the very worst of weather. The club house is small and basic but you can get hot rolls & coffee at least. The members are all very friendly. The previous reviewer noted that the tees & greens overlap - I can see what they mean but it have never been a problem to me any time I've played at Muthill. An 18 hole round can be played in 2.5 hours easily. Well worth a visit.

Memories

I joined Muthill as a junior partly due to not being able to get in at my home course, Crieff Ferntower, before they constructed the Dornock. Playing member from 72 till 78 when I left to serve in the RAF. I rated this highly as it still evokes cherished memories of playing with my father. The Club had very little income being a close neighbour of Crieff, Gleneagles and a out of other 9 hole layouts that were more visible in media of the time. What they achieved with the small income they had is truly remarkable. 1 part time greenkeeper performed miracles for us back then. The views standing on the 8th or 9th tee still retains a special place for me.

Lovely wee course. Lush fairways and fine greens with each hole presenting it's own challenge. With lovely views of surrounding mountains and Strathearn this is a grand country club and course.

played today and found this course in excellent condition and I congratulated the head greenkeeper.he told me he was the only greenkeeper.I was later told ,not only does he look after the course on his own starting at 6 am,but he returns in the evenings to maintain the machinary.100 members ,£200 subs and star greenkeeper ,other golf club committee members should take note and cut their costs.

Charming

Quite a short course, a bit hilly in places but an enjoyable round and excellent value for money. Was quiet but with it being 9 holes it could possibly bunch up in places at peak times. Would play again

I did not like the way that many tees and greens overlap meaning that we were held up constantly waiting on the previous green. Very short course which was in good condition. Sall friendly clubhouse
