Badly organised.

1 hour 20 minutes for 3 holes, then I walked off. 3 groups waiting on every tee. Members say it’s normal and they won’t be renewing next time around. There are plenty of courses less than the £35 paid here that give a much better overall experience.

Bad

Left at hole 13, took 5 hours to get there. Course was average, greens were good.

great tees, superb greens, however, fairways were in very poor condition. They were grassless in patches. Will be very muddy when rain arrives.

Superb golf course, shame about the hospitality

Superb golf course in a great condition, shame about the hospitality. Played here many times in my youth and returned to play with my dad. Upon arrival we were treated in a unwelcome manner, It was possibly due to the fact we had booked a tee time "deal". We arrived approx 30 mins before our time to sign in and had a little practice etc, the tee box had been empty and so politely asked if we may tee off to an abrupt "no, you have to wait till your time, your on a deal". Went to the tee box at our tee slot and a chap jumped in front of us to tee off. A little advice if i may, if you have visitors coming to your course then consider it an opportunity to impress and who knows you may have two new members on your books. Instead, we will most likely not be coming back !

Reasonably challenging course but on the day we were there we had to play two temporary greens and two temporary tees which involved four separate holes. Despite this we were only told about one temporary green in play and received no reduction in green fees to reflect the less than ideal course conditions. On our arrival, we found all entrances to the club including pro shop were locked to visitors and when we eventually gained entry to the Pro shop we did not feel that we received a friendly welcome. Other members we subsequently met on the course were, however, more friendly. We note the comment of a previous visitor on this site regarding dress code and would endorse those views. We, too, believe in a proper dress code but does a golf club in this day and age really need to try and prohibit members and visitors changing into golf shoes outside the privacy of the clubhouse. Silly. Take those signs down, unlock a couple of doors and provide a more friendly welcome overall, to what is, an interesting and scenic course.\

Interesting course with view of Castle

A well designed parkland course in the old grounds of the Castle which is privately owned. A flat course but a good test of Golf. the "Lake Land" hole is a challenge.

Average course without anything too spectacular or memorable. Many holes feel similar as a number of them run side by side. Flat course with greens so fast that they are punishing. Lots of bare patches on the fairways but that's to be expected after such a hot summer.

Ok course.

Having played this course on previous occasions I was very disappointed with the fairways. They had obviously suffered a lot worse than some other courses due to the recent hot weather as the green grass expected was totally non existent in large parts but in fairness the greens were immaculate. Fairways affected game considerably but that is the way things go. Good clubhouse and friendly members and the carling cold drank after our round was probably the best pint of this stuff I have ever had. Will always play here as it is a great venue.
