Venue with lots of options
Lucky enough to play both courses a few weeks prior to the European Tour UK Swing event. The Arden was superb and in great condition and a lovely layout and challenge to play. It is also a typical resort style layout so nice and wide off the tees, plenty of hazards and nice big greens which were in excellent condition. Nice to finish with a par 3 over water as welll.
The Aylesbury is slightly shorter but provided several risk and reward holes and was also in great condition.
I'd highly recommend both courses if you are looking for somewhere to play in the area and you will find that the Arden and Aylesbury are priced accordingly for what they provide. With the hotel the venue provides a great option for a stay and play trip or even society golf outing and although I suspect it is often overlooked by its more famous neighbour make sure you look to play here at some point you won't be disappointed.

What a venue and what a course
Superb hotel. Food excellent, nice rooms good sized pool.Course is more than a bit special. Even a wind gusting at over 50 MPH couldn't spoil the day.
would love to go back on a still day and prove that it's a playable course for all handicaps.

Disappointing from previous visits
Course condition was terrible. Some tee boxes looked like they hadn?t been moved for months. No divot boxes on them to repair your divots and this meant you couldn't get a stance. Greens were in terrible condition also with what looked like lots of dead patches on them. 16th green had new turf but wasn?t marked off as GUR. Practice ground which also has been quality in the past was not worth going on. Real shame as I used to look forward to playing here but would think twice in the future.Bar staff after the round where brilliant and the best part of the day.

Captains weekend
Hotel very good food good rooms nice beer a bit on the dear side the course was good well set out the front 9 as a lot water on it the back 9 is a bit tight the greens where very fast but true the pace of play was very SLOW 6 hours to do 18 holes what a joke they should have marshals going round to keep a look out for slow play it really needs looking at(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 86 Handicap: 5.5)

Only a couple Par 5's and Par 3's unspectacular but good variety of Par 4 holes. Okay to bring the Driver out on pretty much most holes.
Staff in pro shop were friendly and starter also. Hut between 10th and 11th hole with vending machines was a life saver.
Would definitely recommend and play again.

Loved the 8th and 18th par 3's both over water, and would have been a bit more enjoyable if I could have got the driver to work!
Usual eye-watering prices from a Marriot clubhouse. Top tip though, the bacon rolls from the halfway house (just a stones throw from the clubhouse) are half the price!
