Rip off
Meant to be a fab course, has held championships etc. Greens were in very poor nick, course isn't all that, prices charged were astronomical for a course in such bad nick.

Played both courses over the past weekend and entirely agree with the previous reviewer. The course is in a shocking state. Tees with little grass, lots of old GUR areas all over the course and appalling greens which have all been subject to severe hollow tinting and not treated properly. Avoid.

I played East Course a few years back and they have really let this place go to ruin... the course manager should hang is head in shame. Every tee and green extremely patchy, most fairways with large GUR and or/patchy grass. I realise the weather has been hot but you can see the maintenance has been practically non-existent ! This course hosted the Solheim Cup for goodness sake. Its a disgrace to golf is Scotland that we charge guest £70-75 to play on that. Im ashamed. Please invest in staff who know how to look after a golf course.

Played the east course 29/3/2013 after reading many reviews on this course I must say that I was a little disappointed with the condition of the course ! The fairways were very wet but I must say the greens where in very good condition I think certain par 4s are too long but the par 5s are just right I shot 82 which with the condition of the course I was happy with

Fair
After heavy rain the course was in fair condition, muddy in some areas.
people are friendly and welcoming, good food and drink facilities.

short but don't presume easy course - greens good but course overall felt a little shabby - needs more attention

the course in undergoing a lot of work at this time, lots of GUR. Holes 13 and 14 are undergiong a lot of referb. because of all the work and GUR it spoilt the round a little. £30 for the round not worth it at this time

Played here in September 2012 and was extremly dissapointed with condition yes weather has been bad this year but the condition of course was really poor and cannot be described as a championship course anymore with the championship tees completley overgrown and holes change the 16 used to be a fantastic par 5 and now is a wasted par 4!!! I played this course 5 years ago and it was fantastic then and was extremly dissapointed this time.

Played east course today. It was a much shortened and degraded course - several useless temporary greens, par 4s shortened to par 3, normal greens that have been aerated and some just plain soft and unpredictable from too much rain. Several holes featured a bad industrial smell coming from an adjoining property. Ball dispenser at driving range broke and no one came within 30 minutes to fix after having notified staff. Best part was friendly staff. 13 and 14 most interesting and demanding holes, others you just need to be able to belt the ball and keep it fairly straight.

Course was nice, but the green fees suggested it'd be better. If a dozen or so of the holes looked like 13 & 14, the price would be justified. Mowers & grass-blowers seemed to follow us around the first 4 holes which was extremely annoying and off-putting. Greens were often bumpy, some even under pools of water which is unexcusable.
Machine on the range was up the spout so couldn't pracrtice before round, and the less said about the pro shop staff the better.
Highlight of the round was being chased off the 12th & 16th tees by a fox.

Very friendly check in. Helpful with loan of clubs (Titleist 804!) but very pricey - £60 ppp round and £30 for the buggy even if it did have GPS! Very good chipping (3 'greens' for chipping up to 100 yds) and putting facilities but poor range - scrabbly balls and basic hard mats (about twelve or so). Respectful starters hut in front of the manor house leading off to a gentle uphill par 5. Disappointing then that nearly every hole from then was another straight hole with little hazards to beware of. Long holes, yes, but on the green for two then it's back the way you came for the same hole the other way, etc, etc - even the 10th hole is parallel to the 1st and same in par, length and gradient and the greens (given they were in good nick) offered little in challenges). It was only some of the last holes (14th + 18th) that gave the grey matter some work off the tee. The surrounding areas wern't what I thought Scotland was all about - yes, ok I know what you're thinking - but for the most part you could have been playing anywhere and for the cost, I won't be rushing back

enjoyable parkland course
Enjoyable parkland course which is not too long. The driver may stay in the bag for large swathes of the course. But enjoyable round and i would recommend
