Hilly in parts

Two distinct 18 hole courses, Moorland is much less hilly, but more exposed to the elements. Wonderful views over the power stations of Derbyshire, and (joking apart) the lovely wide-open country around. Challenging courses but very enjoyable, and superb hospitality from the members.

Gents Open 2019 Day

First Day of 2019 Golf - not a bad start to the new season. Lots of improvement needed and need to get rid of the rust.

Good course in excellent condition. Good variation of holes. Interesting par threes and elevated tees with lovely views. Challenging with plenty of sloping fairways.

Hotel course. decent condition but only play if you have all day,, got stuck behind a 4 ball in buggies who took 4 and a half hours and they were stuck behind 4 juniors who were even slower. no marshalling, quite expensive. to round it all off we waited 10 minutes in the bar to be served but to no avail,, was going to have a ckub sandwich but at £11 thought better of it. play there if you are staying but if not avoid

Top venue with excellent facilities. Course played really well with fast, receptive greens. The long wispy rough just off the fairways has been cut down since I last played there so no loss of ball or penalty for a slightly wayward shot !! Shot 97 off 24 handicap.

An excellent golf course. You need to use all your expertise of slopes to keep your ball in play. The course will suit players who can draw the ball when needed.. My first round here ,quite small greens . Unless your fit a buggy is a must. Course presentation excellent.

Excellent condition, the rough is thick, tough and punishing but the fairways are wide open so miss them into the rough and its your own fault!!

Good course to play despite the time of year. A few holes were very wet and holding standing water, but overall the course was maintained well, and played a hard challenge.

In my opinion the best course in Derbyshire i have played so far, from the moment you arrive at the car park to the moment you finish there its an enjoyable experience.

On arrival you are provided with a code to the changing rooms which are free of use, which have a very Spa and luxury feel to them, with free lockers which is handy to store all your items you do not want to take on the course.

The Course itself is in immaculate condition with tee boxes with ball cleaners, great info on yardage and generally taken care of very very well.

All the little things are done to perfection here which is great to see, the only slight downside i would say is that it isnt cheap, especially the buggy's which are very expensive at £30 in comparison to £15 most places.

Overall you do pay for quality and its well worth a day out.

2 courses of excellent standard and Priory 11th hole is the one to play. Some well thought out holes on both courses and if you are a learner play the moorland course where you can get some pars and birdies as some holes are under 400 yards. Spa facilities but expensive to play both on course and in bar

Don’t bother in the Winter if you want to play 18 holes. Never been told before to not take any shots on the fairway & to use a Mat! Not that they have any Mats to supply either...who takes a Mat to golf??...but they don’t tell you any of this until you actually get there & no offer of a reduction in price. Shame really as the course (Moorland) was in really good condition.

Get a buggy

An excellent but hilly course, so for me a buggy was essential. Really enjoyed the Priory course. Fabulous views from elevated tees with sloping fairways on the majority of holes. Helpful pro shop staff and COVID precautions clearly in place. The only negative for me was the battery life of the buggies. I played two rounds over two days and on both occasions the buggy was running out of power by the 16th hole - worrying to say the least.
