Short course

Some really nice holes but the rough on the front nine was brutal

Good course, very friendly staff. Some lovely holes on front 9. Back 9 not as interesting though. A few very long holes. Greens very tough

Good course post lockdown

Good course and really decent twilight value for money. Course in decent shape. Greens not too bad. One thing that does need some work are the tee boxes. Sometimes difficult to get a flat stance.

Beautiful hot and sunny summer round in the heart of Essex. Lovely woodland course hidden from mainstream golfers. Long drawn out back 9 aren't too complicated and a little bit of a slog

Cracking Middle

It's hard to truly evaluate the course as only 12 holes were open & the fairways hadn't been mown, but after 2 weeks of almost constant rain, that's not unusual at the moment.
The greens & bunkers were in fantastic condition though.
From what I saw the course got a bit samey around 13 to 16, but holes 8 to 12 were superb. They really made you think with some great layouts around water, trees & sand.
The pro was great & the hotel was very good.
I definitely want to return in the summer & see the course at it's best as I think it will be an excellent challenge of golf.

Nice course, however the tees were not good as many were uneven which made it difficult to find a flat stance. Greens good. Some interesting holes that required a bit of thought. We played on a 2 4 1 so was good value for money. One of them courses you would like to play again as you would have learnt a lot from your first visit.

The Manor of Goves Golf Course is a very good venue. There were a number of temporary tees but did not affect the day.

Good and bad

The course has a good layout requiring thought as to where to put tee shot.\Fairways lush but grass cowuld have been a bit shorter\Greens were pretty true BUT soooooo S-L-O-W, \Tee boxes - grass too long and the ground VERY uneven, hard to get an even stance.\Practice facility is only a single mat and a net, plus a putting green\Clubhouse understaffed for large society. Worst of all showers were COLD ONLY.

I like this course!

Always happy to play this course. Weather has played havoc with all courses over this winter but this is a friendly venue and I always look forward to the next round here
