Not Great

If your looking to hit a ball round a field then crack on! Open that's for sure but not somewhere I'd like to play every week

front 9 a bit all the same going round the inside of race track, back 9 a bit more character. course due to the racetrack is not the best in some parts and lose balls when not hitting a bad shot due to grass being long( for horse racing I understand)

Worth Playing

Played here October 2020

Flat course set inside & outside the racecourse although the holes have definition with gorse , trees , bushes etc. .I last played here about 25 years ago so i included this in a golf trip including Church Stretton & Kington .I would say it didn't seem to be quite as good as i remembered it but that's not to say there's much wrong with it & it is worth playing .

I preferred the back 9 to front 9 .Course was in good condition & the fairways were superb to play off with lovely almost links - like turf .The greens were in good condition however it seems as if they have all been re done since my last visit all those years ago & i preferred them how they used to be ! I didn't like the design of them as they were a bit flat & boring & some would slope off at the edges meaning your ball could run off the sides quite easily.
The pro knocked a bit of the green fee as the greens had been hollow tined which was good of him as the greens were fairly good to putt on.
Overall , this course is what it is & would be worth adding to a list of courses to play in the area as part of a golf trip .

Have just played a society day at Ludlow. The fairways were well kept, as were the greens, which played very, very quickly. A deceptively difficult course, considering it's so flat. If you head off the fairways, you can lose a ball very easily, as a lot of the rough is very shaggy. Definitely a course where it's better to be short than long. Good for a society day, not sure I would be a member. Found the members were a touch unwelcoming, but the pro and staff were good. We all adhered to their dress code as per the website, which we would at our own clubs and still the seniors had a moan at some of our players about shorts when it was pushing 28 degrees on the course. Some people just don't like visitors at their home clubs, which seems strange when you consider that most clubs would struggle without them.

Remarkable how dry the course was

Very impressed with the condition of this golf course considering the amount of rain that had fallen in the few days before we played. The course was very dry, with all tees in use, trolley allowed and the vast majority of main greens in use. The course is quite flat and boarders the Ludlow race course, but has plenty of challenging holes. Overall, a great course for playing in the winter ?? I guess it would be nice in the summer as well.
