Work going on a hole was closed due to this and drainage ditches half completed between 3-6 inches deep which rersulted in golf balls constantly going down them losing distance and causing more strokes but the club still had the gall to charge full price despite being a building site .

Work is needed on the course
I have a 36 hole battery which lasted 14 holes on this course as the wheels were just spining, the drainage was terbile and the next holes badly signed, as twice we played towards the wrong holeReviewer Rating

Where did the bunkers go?!
Ironic that first tee was off limits as it was being reinvigorated only to find that every bunker bar about three had been filled in on the course since I was last here. Greens okay, but spiked. Fairway grass not great and those drainage channels are a nightmare, as always. Worse still was the standard of the ground that used to be bunker was so poor. Slope rating must be reviewed, surely. Course was all but empty on a Wednesday pm roundReviewer Rating

Then they have the cheek to put up the senior rate to ?18 for a round.
Why don't they wait until the course is actually playable before putting prices up.

Starting to look overpriced
As a nomadic golfer, I have played The Rayleigh Club's east course on many occasions over the years. It's mainly for the pay and play brigade or players that find 5,500 yards plus to much. It's a decent test and has generally been in ok condition, but over the last couple of times I've played it, the greens are showing a far bit of wear and tear and are very bumpy. Now I guess you get what you pay for. But given a midweek round has gone up from ?15 pre pandemic (which was about right), to now ?20 it's looking overpriced for what it is. I know clubs have to make back their lost revenues, but they also need to take into account the quality of the course, otherwise sooner or later people are going to take their business elsewhere.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
Played here a little while back. I had booked as a change from my membership club at the time Crondon Park. We had been booked in for an afternoon round. When going into pay the young guy at the desk asked us for our handicap, we do not have an official handicap and that had not been mentioned when we booked. The young guy didn't believe us and contacted someone else by phone. After explaining that we hadn't been asked and what the person sounded like, he begrudgingly agreed to let us play! His attitude was terrible, I have never felt so unwelcome at a golf course before. The course is badly signed and the cut around the green was terrible. Probably the worst golf course in Essex. I recommend not to play there, they don't deserve your business.Reviewer Rating

like everything else in england too pricey
Course prices have increased but quality hasnt , the earl course wasnt a bad course at £15 but now its gone up to £23 and it certainly doesnt warrant that kind of price , the greens are average and the fairways below average , i wouldnt be surpised if money from playing the earl was being used to manicure the Private course, whuch your average minion isnt even get a sniff of.(Round played: Feb 2018 - Score: 102 Handicap: 24.2)

OK
Short Course, but ok for a quick round when conditions are ok. Greens are small but ok and bunkers have a good covering of sand.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 84 Handicap: 17.8)

Went and played 1/4/17 only to find a 15% increase in price even though playing on temp tees (not mats) so the 7th par 3 was playing at 87 yards, as well as other tee positions being too far onto what they might call a fairway but more like rough. So disappointing as this is my local and I usually enjoy this course.

Turned up today they have increased the green fee to £20
Can't see any justification for increase course had rubbish littered all of the course
Fairway dug up for drainage and no repaired in a good way
I play three rivers for a lot less money good ball cleaners no par 5 but well worth £11 for a round
Think Rayleigh club need to clean up course and make it £20 pay and play very disapointed

Very poor
I hate to say this as I love playing this course and I know the weather has not helped but the course at this time is very poor. The tee boxes and general grass management has been neglected in favour of putting all the effort into the members South course. The greens were very good but the fairways need lots more attention. I do understand the South course is taking all the green keepers time for the fee paying members. But more time should be allocated to the East course.Reviewer Rating

No golf etiquette required
We like to play the East course as it is a great way to put into practice what you have been practicing on the Range, which by the way is very good and well priced, the biggest issue we have with the East course is that no person seems to bother with trying to encourage any type of Golf Etiquette, be it with type of clothing being worn, Jogging Bottoms and hoodies seems OK it seems, driving the golf buggies wherever they like, and most annoying, how hard is it to KEEP UP WITH THE GAME IN FRONT AND NOT IN FRONT OF THE GAME BEHIND, we have walk of twice in recent weeks due to slow play, 1hr to play 3 holes is not acceptable, they are not long holes, quit on the 11thReviewer Rating
