Really enjoyable course
A friend and I visited to use up a tee time voucher, and chose here because neither of us had played it before. What a good choice! I read ALL the reviews from golfshake, and they were quite mixed, with some saying it's flat, others saying it's hilly. I can confirm that it is hilly, but as a 65 year old, I did not find it TOO hilly. Another reviewer said the holes were all similar, but I didn't find this to be the case at all. I thought there were a number of decent views around the course, and the holes represented a good mix of challenges. The one part I would agree with from other reviews was that there is a constant hum of noise from the traffic on the A1, and the trains on the other side of the course were also quite noisy, but we did tee off at 7.45, when there would be a fair few commuter trains heading into London, but this quietened down a lot within the first hour. There had obviously been some rain recently which left the bunkers looking like they needed work, but those we visited were actually reasonably stocked with sand, although it was heavy as it was wet. Fairways were a little patchy, but I've not visited any club this year which wasn't the same. Tees were being 'spiked' on the day we visited, but all looked in very good condition, and very level (not all courses are)! Greens were amp with the overnight rain, but as we approached the 1st, one of the greenkeepers was out with the "iron", which I presume means they have a big competition coming up. The greens which were done before we got to them were superb, and whilst the rest were slow due to the dew, they all rolled very straight and true, with putts going exactly where they were sent.
It was odd that the Pro-shop was not open when we got there, but we had no problem getting on the course, and popped in the pro-shop after our round, and the staff member was very pleasant. We managed to get a score card from the locker room, and the members were helpful guiding us to the tee, as there was some building work going on, and various barriers in place around the older parts of the clubhouse. Food and drink seemed reasonably priced, and the staff in the lounge were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the course very much, and I'm really looking forward to playing it again, despite a 5 putt at the last, as the flag was on the first tier, and the ball kept rolling back to my feet - until then I was on handicap!

Very nice course
Played Knebworth for the first time yesterday and found it to be in excellent condition apart from a couple of fairways which were patchy and bald, the recent rain will help no doubt! The course itself is very undulating, bounded by the railway on the east and nearby A1 on the west side but this doesn't detract from the nice country feel of the place. Some tricky and picturesque holes requiring thought and precision. Didn't try the clubhouse due to current restrictions but it looks very nice from the outside
Will return

surperb woodland course
excellent well maintained woodland course. Very undulating, with game management a good part of the round. A challenge, with the 14, a dramatic par 3 across a valley, with deep bunkers at the bottom of the hill.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 12.5)

There are many mature trees and copses, and narrowish fairways making accuracy off the tee a premium.
The course doesn't benefit from great drainage and really comes into its own in Spring/Summer when it is usually in great condition and is a joy to play.
I have read comments about this being an easy walking course. However, the couse isn't flat and the walk up the 18th fairway can be tiring for some.
Well worth visiting outside of Winter.
