Great course with some challenging holes and fantastic views. Fairly hilly as you'd expect but this just adds to the challenge - and the views! Friendly club house, a nice lunch and very helpful staff. 18th hole is one to be enjoyed - hitting from an elevated tee directly at the clubhouse with the green in reach if you're willing to go big...

fantastic golf course with lots of interesting and very different holes. Amazing views across England and Wales. played here on a very calm day and it was still challenging, great risk reward 18th leading to a welcoming club house with roof terrace. Greens in good condition, quick (June)

Played 31/10/13 the greens and lay out of the course is great a fantastic inland links the staff are very welcoming and friendly. However i have just spent the last 2 hours clearing the sheep droppings from all my kit it is everywhere except the greens and i mean everywhere the fairways are covered in it this makes a very good course into a good/average course i don't mind sheep on a course but the fairway should surly reward good play and not be covered in droppings

We played this course on 28th feb 2009. The course was in execellent condition the greens were suberb for this time of year. I found some challenging holes and i suspect this would be a tough course with a stong wind as it it is the second highest golf club in england or wales. The pro shop was exellent and there are buggys available also the club house is exellent with superb changing area. A special mention for the food and reception afterwards as a great meal is allways appriatated after a 18 hole grind on the golf course. This is a suberb golf course in a suberb location.

A good challenge

This is an interesting course and the highest in England. It was rather wet yesterday and windy on the top of the hills. The course was in good condition considering recent rain. The greens were true and a good speed but some of the fairways were unbelievably uneven making clean shots quite difficult when in the many hollows. You need to be quite fit as most holes go up or downhill. The clubhouse was friendly with good food and drinks.

So good I played it twice!

Stunning views and a spectacular location, this was one of my best days on a golf course. I was lucky to have chosen a perfect early autumn morning for my visit to England’s highest course, but it may have been very different in a strong wind. After 18 holes, I had a lunchtime break, learning some of the club history from a genial member, then went out for a second round.
Fairways are the roughest and bumpiest I’ve seen, maintained only by the sheep whose droppings are all around, but I couldn’t help smiling as I played to the sound of complete silence except for the occasional ‘baa’!
Putting surfaces were better than I was expecting and much quicker, so chipping onto greens isn’t easy, especially those cut into the sloping hillside.
Despite being 1284ft above sea level, I found this an easy walk with much of the uphill part being between tees. Long will I remember the sweeping par 5, 14th, the steeply downhill par 3, 15th and the final hole over a gorge.... hit your driver at the flagpole, then watch it roll down towards the green!
I enjoyed a drink on the clubhouse balcony overlooking that 18th green as the sun went down.... what an awesome day!!
