Best course I've played
I'm not bragging......but i'm up to around 250 different courses played in the UK including most of the Open/Ryder Cup venues & this is by far the best so far. The layout, variety, scenery and hospitality are second to none. Yes, it's expensive, but it's a 'treat' course that if you are lucky, may only play a couple of times, so save up and play it - you'll not be disappointed. And putting out 'fairway lights' as it was a bit foggy when we tee'd off to help us round was a new experience......pure class!Reviewer Rating

Cost
I’ve played all the St. Andrews courses now apart from Kingsbarns,it looks amazing but is any course worth the green fees they charge.the old course was £90 pounds which is good valve having all the history that comes with it.kingsbarns £285 because it’s claim to fame is the dunhill.surely the prices are the wrong way around.Reviewer Rating

Great
Super course, a joy to play. Some stunning holes. Most tee shots look quite daunting, but the reality is the dunes feed the ball back towards the fairway, and the rough is much thinner than it looks off the tee, so it is quite forgiving and playable if you get out of position.Reviewer Rating

Simply superb, best course I have ever played at
By far the best course I have played at. From the minute you arrive, everything they do is as you could hope it would be.Having played Carnoustie the day before, and been somewhat disappointed by the overall experience it was an absolute pleasure to arrive at Kingsbarns and get spoilt.
The club and check-in is efficient, the practice grounds superb, the clubhouse and locker room friendly and well designed with stunning views out to the course.
We were very lucky with the weather, a milder wind than you may expect at this time of year and sunshine, but the course was in sublime condition. Trolleys included in your round as well as plenty of other small gifts like ball markers, pitch mark repairers. Given the price you pay you may suggest that this is to be expected but it is nice not to have to worry about the small details.
The course itself was superbly laid out, some very challenging holes, but equally able to play each one differently so that accuracy and course management is as important as being able to hit big.
The greens were lightening quick but ran so true that you could trust your instincts and if you had read the line and pace well, be rewarded, but like most of the course, if you make a mistake you are punished.
Despite having not scored as well as I would have liked I took a couple of birdies and a few pars, just being brutally punished when in a couple of the bunkers, and I really enjoyed the challenge of playing such a visually striking course that was imposing but fair.
I have not played a better course in my memory, despite having played some notable courses, and would thoroughly recommend a visit to Kingsbarns if you are in the area, or simply if you just love a good round of golf.
Not often you can say that a round this expensive was worth every penny, but it really was that enjoyable to play that it becomes a secondary factor and I would happily pay it to play many times in the future.

without doubt the best golf course I have played...we had a great day weather wise and played in Polo tops all the way round only a slight breeze which made the yardage easier to club on....greens were fantastic for the end of October and everything about the experience was very special....a golfing highlight for what was my 252nd golf course
