Played early May 2017, dramatic high hill surrounded the course - unfortunately this day we found fairways to be "daisy covered" and not close mown. Therefore difficult to find ball - even after hitting perfect tee shots & anything slightly L or R more so. The 16th fairway was in process of being cut, but noticed immediately, daisies hadnt been cut & removed, merely rolled over & sprang back up again ! Had played Cockermouth GC previous day - much better with proper mown fairways. A disappointing day therefore at Keswick

My expectations going to this course were perhaps too high, I was certainly a little disappointed by the quality of the fairways. The greens were good and the views from every hole are great. The professional wasn't there when I played but the staff were pleasant enough. No course yardage book available which was a little surprising. There are better courses within easy driving distances in my opinion.

Overpriced for the state of the greens on my visit. Paid £32 full green fees on 28 September, 2014. Better value to be had elsewhere. Scenery is fantastic as you'd imagine.

Good course but not at it's best

First time playing Keswick, had booked on-line before hand which was easy enough. No pro shop and clubhouse very quiet when we turned up to play, nice chap in the car park directed us in right direction for first tee. Course had been closed a few days beforehand due to heavy rainfall so expected it to be wet in places which it was. Course very quiet which was nice. Quite a hilly course but not over taxing. Some nice looking holes and great scenery all around. Greens a little woolly but passable given time of year and saturated conditions. Would certainly like to play it again in drier conditions.

The setting of the course is stunning with a picturesque backdrop of the Cumbrian fells. Every tee has a hole guide explaining the dangers and local rules to be followed. (Very handy at times). Played Sunday 7th May and it was still preferred lies. The main issue was the greens appeared to have been top dressed and were almost impossible to read. It has the potential to be a cracking course and is a real test for any golfer.

Golfshake Team ReviewKeswick's unusual layout is often what confuses golfers around this course and really adds to the challenge, with a large variety of holes. It is the course's beautiful setting that makes this a real delight as it is set among the mountainous Cumbrian skyline.

Some of the fairways are not pristine and much of the course is hilly (as you might expect). The greens are very good and the course is clearly improving. The signage is excellent around the course. The views are often breathtaking,so all in all well worth playing this course.Be prepared to be a little tired afterwards! Loved the second hole, did not like the 4th!

Not impressed with the quality of the greens. The course is under a fair bit of regeneration work and they have had some bad weather recently which will have affected the cutting of the greens and fairways

Lovely setting under the spectacular Blencartha (Saddleback). Friendly staff and good food in clubhouse. As others have mentioned, this is a hilly course with a lot of ups and downs and side of hill lies. No bunkers. In fairness, early in season (April) and there had recently been a snow covering in past couple of weeks but both greens and fairways could have been better. However, an enjoyable day and plenty of reasons to try this one out if in the area.

nice course in a great location, played today but the fairways were still wet with all the rain we have had so no run and plugged balls on the fairways made it a bit of a slog but would love to play this course when dry

The real selling point of this course is the setting. Surrounded by the mountainous skyline of cumbria, playing golf here almost takes second place as you often stop and have a look around at where you are.

The course is reasonable short in length but still offers some testing holes, particularly the Par 3s which are all very long (the 2nd a stormer at over 240 Yards through a narrow tree lined driving position). The fourth offers the opportunity for the moutain climbers among you to don your crampons - locally known as 'Cardiac' for a very good reason. Playing your 3rd (and quite often 4th!) shot after climbing one hell of a hill requires an ability to calm your heart rate quickly just so that you can catch your breath before hitting your next shot.

Having played this course several times over the years I can say it is well worth the 3.5 hour round trip from my home to get a day's golf in. Great value for money, with a cracking clubhouse, friendly staff and a mean soup and sarnie lunch. Recent work to the course has introduced a lot of well placed walkways and paths that now allow for the use of buggies on the course which previously would have struggled in what can be a fairly wet climate.

One thing to note - you won't need your sand iron here as there are no bunkers!
