Awful fairways, ruining a good design
I was really disappointed with my recent round at Purbeck.Having seen many pictures, the course looked brilliant. I had heard a few reviews suggesting that the fairways weren't being kept up but I had no idea how bad they were. Yes the greens were ok, the tee boxes too, but given the weather we have had recently the fairways were in shocking condition. Worst I have ever played. There were many rabbit holes on the fairway, but many were also playing off of condensed mud.
We paid at the slightly reduced rate of £50 and that felt about £25 too much. The course and the views are stunning, and the staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly, but clearly the course has had zero investment in it and as a result I would not recommend to anyone.
Some had travelled from America to play it, and they cannot have been at all impressed with the standard.

Mr
P.ahed the course this week after a long absence and was looking forward to playing as I had great memories of a fantastic test of golfWhilst the greens were recovering from it would be unfair to rate them but they were relatively quick which was a good sign
Fairways were absolutely awful and can’t see a time this summer where it would be possible to play anything but winter rules
It’s a great shame as this has the potential to be one of the countries great courses with a fantastic setting and spectacular holes
Everyone should play this course once in their lives and my message to the owners are please restore this course to a co diction it deserves whatever it takes - it’s a national treasure and should be presented as such

Great Course & Views
Great course and amazing views on a day with not a cloud in the sky. I?d heard many reports that the condition of Isle of Purbeck was really poor so was not expecting much even though the green fee including coffee and a bacon bap was only ?25. The greens were fine and relatively quick and the bunkers were in good condition - the fairways were very poor but as it was preferred lies it didn't make much difference to my golf. As this was my last round pre lockdown it was actually a really good value golf day with amazing weather for early November.Reviewer Rating

Disappointing
Returning to the course after 25 year gap. Fairways totally destroyed. Still the views are tremendous and the greens improving from obvious damage. Grass seed has been scattered on some fairways, but no use this year,Reviewer Rating

Very Disappointing
This course has always been on my bucket list of places to play, Must admit I was very disappointed with the course not worth the 55 pound fee, I've played better courses for less.Fairways were non existent hardly any grass on them just dry potted mud made the ball bounce all over the place even if you hit great shot. Greens weren't much better full of pot marks and very slow

Stunning Views, Amazing Layout, Poor Conditions
Such a shame to see a course of this magnitude in such poor condition in the height of summer. The layout and views are fantastic however the experience was ruined by diseased greens, running at a slow pace. All in all I would return to the Isle of Purbeck for the twilight fee of £25, in good condition this course could command £50 + and represent great value! Such a shame!Reviewer Rating

Avoid at all costs
I last played the Isle of Purbeck about 15 years ago and at that time it was a gem of a course worthy of it status in the top 100 in England We visited this weekend as a group and I have to say the experience was simply awful. The fairways are burnt to a crisp and have virtually no grass on them. The greens had not been cut in a while and had disease in them. The welcome in the clubhouse was poor to say the least. The only discerning feature of this course at the moment is that it does still have great views but personally I would not go there again EVER until they make investment in the course and the clubhouse - so sad this was one a real treat sadly no longerReviewer Rating

What a shame
Played this course yesterday, the views are outstanding and course layout is great. The maintenance of the course was very poor, no grass in many of the fairways meaning preferred lies in play. The greens are in a awful state. A 25 year member told us management has changed hands and what was a truly outstanding course is now one of the worse around the area. Such a shame as I’m sure in its peak this would be wonderful to play but now I would give this a miss.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic environment for golf
What a treat. Conditions were wet in places, but nothing could spoil the enjoyment of playing a great course with stunning scenery. With a number of blind tee shots this place would improve over repeated visits. A number of stand out holes, but 5th and 11th stay in the mind. Lovely clubhouse and able to eat and soak in the views to Poole harbour.Reviewer Rating
