So Confusing but Nice course....

Five of us played today for our first time at Ilford GC. No clubhouse facilities, no marshalling and basically just the members on the course.
Great shorter course in excellent condition considering that most of Ilford were underwater about two weeks ago.
As we looked a little lost after going over a footbridge over a busy dual carriageway a couple of the members kindly directed to the starting holes and talked us through the first three holes.
The major feedback really is the layout of the course is very very confusing, any Garmin products were picking up the wrong hole and frankly so of it on a busy day (this was not thankfully) would have been dangerous in the hands of the wrong golfers.
We will be back now we know what we are doing but hopefully a clubhouse facilty will enhance the experience.

Compact course with a couple of crossover fairways, short and tight in places. Greens very true but on the slow side.

Lovely course easily accessible from London and Essex. Friendly pro shop and clubhouse serving food.

Recommend for beginners as not too long yet tricky enough to challenge those with lower handicaps.

This is a real gem of a course in inner London. Although it;s not the longest course and there aren't not too many very difficult holes, the course is kept in really great condition most of the year around (Only gets a little yellow after long periods of hot weather) Absolute bargain round for the price you pay and they have very friendly staff.

I think this is a great course for all levels of golfer, but especially for the 18 - 27 handicap golfers.

First time on the course, was very wet but greens played well. Very narrow and if busy then I could imagine a bit hairy as you are driving over other people's fairways.

Nice and cheap as only £10 midweek round, will come back again but when less wet.

This is an excellent course , kept in very good condition , there are some holes that cross , there's a map on the back of the scorecard and using it I had no problem navigating around , not to long but requiring accuracy and with a couple of tee shots and one second or third shot over a river it's quite exciting to play , it cost a tenner on a weekday which is an absolute bargain , the greens are the best around here , lovely and true runnng

Golfshake Team ReviewAs you turn up to this course you cant help but think what the hell you've let yourself in for. The Bar looks like a house on a row of a busy street. But dont let this fool you. There is parking round the back of a row of houses and the pro shop is in what looks like a little cabin, however is quite big and well stocked.

Even before you get to the course you have to go over a bridge and cross the A406 but what greets you the other side is like something from a different world.

Surrounded by the motorway and tall buildings you'll soon forget about whats around you and concentrate on what is a small, compact but wonderful test of golf.

Small greens, tight fairways lay ahead with short par 4's making you want to give it a bash but beware the bunkers and long rough, anything not straight will get punished.

The greens themselves are in great condition too. Seem to be well looked after.

In places it may be difficult to find your way around from green to tee and 2 or 3 holes have blind shots, either off the tee or onto the green, but id love to go back at some point and give it another crack.

All in all a good day out.

Zero maintenance done!!

Was initially looking forward to playing here as I’ve driven past more times than I care to mention.
On arrival the clubhouse seemed decent but that is where everything started to go downhill once you have walked over the A406 to the 1st tee.
Every green was basically dead, covered in moss and weeds and it was a total waste of time even reading a line because the ball would hit a weed and divert.
Groundma s was attempting to water the greens with the most pathetic looking sprinklers I’ve ever seen, and it was a waste of time as there was no grass on the greens anyways.
Tee boxes were even worse (if that was at all possible), and the fairways and rough just looked like it hadn’t seen any attention for weeks, if not months!!
The lay out is ridiculous, with tee boxes too close to greens so you are nearly always looking out for stray balls coming towards you or your hitting over people which just seemed ridiculous.
After just a couple of holes it was a total waste of time, and we really stopped scoring and used it as a practice…. £35 cost in my opinion was about £35 too much as to play this course again they would have to pay me or spend a considerable amount of time doing basic golf course maintenance.
Apart from a decent clubhouse it looks like a course that is just waiting for the inevitable closure.

I don't like the multiple holes you have to play over/across other greens/holes, especially given the course is directed at more amateur level players. Greens were a touch patchy in places. Pace of play was incredibly slow but I hear the social in front was for a commemoration so can't complain, except one guy was constantly on his phone - if you've got more important things to do, don't play. Fee of £35 for midday Saturday is steep; there are lots of courses within 5-10miles of Ilford (of better conditions and value for money) that charge less

Won't be going back in a hurry

Pretty little course, but lack of club house (New one is currently being built) offering no WC facilities or anywhere to get a drink was not good - We weren't informed about the clubhouse when booking and yet they still charged full price. Grumpy warden also put a downer on the round. Horrible orange grass treatment also stained literally everything!

Tricky gem

Hidden in the East End this course is a must play. Kept very well considering the rain we have had recently. Apparently the layout has recently changed and they are in need of a few new signs to direct golfers to the next tee.
However the course was in great shape with a number of 'thinking holes'. The shorter par 4's allow you to attack but beware of the out of bounds. Would happily play here again.
