Decent course which owners starting to renovate always got tee times available

Surprisingly Enjoyable Round of Golf!
After seeing the price and reading the reviews I thought this was going to be a pretty poor course. I was, however, pleasantly surprised.
The front 9 was not too difficult, but the hills and wind certainly made for a challenge. The back 9 was far more narrow and a degree of accuracy was needed on a lot more holes.
For 16 a round I would give it a thumbs up.

Leen valley golf club have put a lot of effort into the coarse over the last year by adding drainage tubes to help with water logged fairways

Not the best of courses ive played on. Greens were pretty rough cost all of us quite a few shots but I would put that down to the poor drainage apart from that it could have been worse

Played this course for the first time this weekend.
The front 9 has some length, the back 9 is quite short in comparison. All the par 3's are on the back 9 and one of the par 4's has had the tees moved up to the length of a par 3.
Overall, the course was quite wet and boggy. It had rained in the last couple of days but with the slopes on the course, I would have expected it to have drained better. They are currently doing some work to improve drainage but there is still alot of work to be done.
The Tees were in good condition for the time of year.
The fairways were adaquet, although boggy in places, and there where areas of grass clippings that have not been collected.
All the bunkers are out of play, with sand piles in them. From reading other peoples reviews, they have been like this for around a year now.
Unfortunately, the greens are not great, even for the time of year. They are all quite patch, the ball doesn't run true on them and people don't seam to repair pitch marks on them which is sad to see.
Overall I enjoyed my round but it is average value for money at £16.

Played in January the day after a storm. Course now drys alot quicker than it used to. Bunkers look good trimmed edges just the new sand to go in now. Full greens and tees all winter cant be bad. Great views on a clear day.

Obviously the previous review doesn't take into account that lots of work is being done to the course to make it better. Leaving comments like that do not help either party. I would suggest speaking to the PRO and give him the chance to do the job which he is paid to do and that is to resolve the issue before plastering comments over the internet, and if you are not man enough to give the pro constructive feedback at least email them and give them a chance.

FAIRWAYS:- CUT AND WELL MAINTAINED,
FIRST CUT BANKS: CUT BUT ON MANY OF THEM THE GRASS CUTTINGS WERE LEFT IN ROWS
ROUGH:- VERY POOR WITH NEARLY ALL GROWN TO 12 TO 16 INCHES. MORE OR LESS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND YOUR BALL. IF YOU WERE UNFORTUNATE TO FIND THE BALL IT WAS, TO A HIGH HANDICAP GOLFER AS MYSELF, ALMOST UNPLAYABLE.

Brand New Tee House Restraunt with extensions for wedding facilities and functions. Does a fantastic sunday dinner booking essential as it gets packed out. Course much better with new staff and new owners.
