Well-maintained parkland course. Greens and fairways in great condition. Plenty of space on many holes so fairly forgiving, although enough hazards, ditches and bunkers to make it interesting. First nine is longer than the second. We played on a Wednesday afternoon/early eve and there was hardly anybody about. Only £12 good value.

very hot day
weather hot and dry but course in perfect condition considering the weather conditions pin positions fair as greens not holding as so dry and fast(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 82 Handicap: 16.2)

This course offers incredible value golf. I have played all over the North East and come across supposed "Top 100" courses whose greens are a pale shadow of what I was surprised but delighted to find at the Hobson.
It's a testing lay-out, which challenges you strategically (if you think "driver" on every par 4 and par 5, you'll trip up here) while not being too penal.
I was also surprised by how up and down it is - you get no sense of its contours from the main road running alongside a couple of the holes..it's genuinely scenic at times.
Throw in an ultra-friendly reception in pro shop, clubhouse and bar, and it's impossible to fault at barely a tenner a round.

Very challenging course for a par 70. Bunkers in good places and tough par 3's with raised greens surrounded by sand and water. Some par 4's with ditches that are drivable so need to pick your clubs correctly. If you hit straight you can go for a competitive score but if you go right or left you can be in serious trouble.
