dissappointed
played this course quite regular over several years but this is by far the worst condition I have known it. bunkers have never been great but these were shit un playable. whole course in need of cutting you could lose your ball on the so called fairway it was so long. wont be back for a while.Reviewer Rating

Hilltop West Bromwich Closing down
Whilst playing a round today, I met some members who advised that the course is closing on 1st November by MyTime Active. Apparently they had applied for Planning Permission for a 9 hole course, footgolf and other things, which is now not moving forward. The course was being cut during the round, but found it to be a little long even still. Greens not bad, but areas of rough were too rough. Shame it will be left to be overgrown soon and another course gone.(Round played: Oct 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: 24.9)

Poor Condition
Looks like My time active are neglecting this course. The state of the bunkers were atrocious. Weeds growing in most of them, hard packed and not had a rake for some time. The staff say there should have been new sand in April! A real shame but also having to pay full price for a sub standard course.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 93 Handicap: 16.5)

I Played 18 holes after the Storm on 25th Feb 2017. Be prepared for little or no signage between holes which makes navigating around very very difficult for first time visitors.
The layout is challenging but needs much more maintenance, this course could be excellent if the resources were made available.

Remembering its a municipal its a fair test. Tree lined course with lengthy rough means some testing holes. Attractive course considering where it is. Hard to be critical when municipals attract all-sorts to play, some pitch marks not repaired for example. Greens quite slow but decent. Tee boxes quite soggy considering we havnt had much rain and worn in places grass too long in others. For 12 quid (booked on ToT) very good value. A great course to hone your skills.

Some nice holes to be honest and a cloudy wet day meant I couldn`t enjoy the views. But.....scruffy greens, tees and bunkers Also, no markings on the tee box meant I had no idea which hole I was playing, No indication of which hole, how long and what par was. I think I played holes 1 and 2 then possibly 12/13 14/15 etc before eventually finding my way to hole 3 to complete the front 9. Bunkers were more like mud than sand ,speed of greens slow, even downhill putts needed a good whack, It could be a great course but needs serious investment and work to bring it up to scratch/acceptable condition in a competitive golf course environment. Was it value for money? Possibly? Car park is a long way from the ``clubhouse``. there is a parking area near the clubhouse but this is reserved for staff.

Greens have improved but are still a work in progress. Bunkers are very poor, probably need digging out and start again. Fairways were tidy and running well.

Tee's and fairways are good, bunkers are like playing from a concrete bowl, with no rake's, and the green are full of sand, not worth the money.

Have played here on many occasions but at the moment the greens are in terrible condition. The dry weather seems to have really affected them. The greens have always been pretty ropey but they are really bad at the moments. Some bunkers are like clay and some have some nice new sand in them. I Only paid £5 for a 5pm round but if I had paid full price i would have been asking for my money back. The rest of the course is fine. There are some good holes on this course - particulraly the front 9 and it is a shame that the greens are currently in a bad way. With some TLC this could be a very good course.

Myself and a group of friends have just played 4 courses in 3 days and I have to say that this was my least favourite. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed it and for the front 9 I thought it was a good challenge but on the back 9 there was several holes on the trot that did not offer much of a challenge and were quite frankly boring. The stroke indexes are a bit strange as the 15th and 16th hole were index 4 and 6 but were very easy holes as they were straight up and down with big wide fairways. Then came the 17th hole which was index 12 yet was so much harder than that. It was definitely my favourite hole of the day. You need to have a very accurate drive up a hill with trouble on both sides. The greens were a bit ropey as they had large brown patches which rolled fast and green patches that rolled very slow. The biggest let down I found that when I finished my round I could not get a drink afterwards. It was a Sunday afternoon, the weather was roasting and the course was packed so I guess I was not the only one that wanted a drink. Of the 4 courses I played this weekend this is the only one I would not like to return to.

Course seemed very overcrowded, 4 games, sometimes 5 on each hole. 4 hrs 45 mins far too long for a course this size.

Guy who runs the course is a bit of a misery but if you can get past that then for a muni it's not bad. Practice area is not up to much & neither are the changing rooms.

Testing course

Some long par 5s mixed with some tricky par 4s make the course quite challenging, however encouraging you to test yourself. Hole 17 has a valley, which requires a long drive to clear the top of the hill. Areas of the course were quite boggy after the heavy rain and slowed the ball down quite considerably. Greens were quite good considering the heavy downfall.
