Sapphire Course

This is a Par 66 with 7 par three's and one par 5. which if looked after could be a fantastic course to play. But the greens are the worst I have ever played on, they are in a absolutely discussing state, also the tee box's are not good but only just acceptable.

Worst course I've had the displeasure to play. There really are no positives, the tees were all temporary off mats, the fairways weren't even cut with no differentiation between fairway and semi rough, and the greens where do i start. I have an ok lawn in my garden, 10 ,minutes with my rotary mower would offer me a better playing surface than that available at this course.
The staff also let this place down, at most venues staff cant do enough for you, here staff wont do anything for you. We went as a golf break which whilst not expensive it wasn't particularly cheap...uk golf breaks has rEviews stating this place is excellent.....this is false, if you take your clubs down to the local park you'll be better placed than at this facility. Save your money and avoid this poor excuse of a golf club.

Having played at this venue on a few occasions we were extremely dissappointed with the customer service and course conditions experienced. On arrival we were told that there were no buggies on the Non-Championship course (I always mix the names up). We had booked two buggies for a four ball and had not taken our own trolleys. When asked if the conditions were wet, we were told that the course conditions were good but due to some golfers rolling a buggy the previous day there were no buggies due to health and safety reasons. As a result we were offered the hire of trolleys at our cost. I must say that the chap in the pro-shop was not the normal chap we have seen in the past, who has always been pleasant and helpful. The experience got even worse when we tried to order some breakfast and a coffee in the Sports Bar. Not only had the prices increased by approx 50%, but the service was appalling. The staff did not know the new menu items and could not operate the till.
Once on the course it was clear that the greens were in a poor state of repair. This can not always be balamed on the club as pitchmarks and divots are clearly the responsibility of the golfer, unfortunately the average golfer at this course clearly does not care about fellow golfers!
It is with some dissappointment that neither I or my friends will ever think about returning.

Sapphire Course

Very tight for people who struggle to hit a perfectly straight drive. Greens in very poor condition - there's no decent excuse for this. They should get themselves a decent agronomist and sort this out because it wasn't good enough. It's a quirky course with lots of par 3s. I wouldn't mind playing it again but would have to be assured of it being in a better condition.
Staff at the venue were friendly and the room in the hotel was spacious, but poorly maintained. The poor condition of the bathroom showed that the management aren't really paying attention to the details in a way that would keep the hotel venue up to scratch. That's a shame because the overall impression of the poor condition in the hotel and on the course gives the impression that it's just large resort that is churning the numbers without really taking care of the details.

Greens are very hit and miss, some are extremely quick and run true many others bobble all over the place and are really slow.
We went as a society and were told we had free buggies to use only to be told 2 days before the day that they could not for fill this.
Then whilst on the tee with our group of 24 the pro shop had booked a senior ladies group in front who were extremely slow and held our group up.

DIFFERENT TYPE OF COURSE

With it switching between par 4 / 3 on every hole it really did allow for practice of short game on some challenging holes.

Course in poor condition, Greens were mossy and had been damaged by birds and consequently very bobbly. Had to use winter mats but these were in very poor condition.

Tough

Although the Sapphire Course is not particularly long and contains seven par 3s, it is still a very challenging test.

The Sapphire is a short but very challenging 18 hole course. Even though there are a lot of par 3's, there are plenty of holes to make you think, including some of the par 3's. The layout can be slightly confusing to the first time visitor with a couple of tees hidden round the back of other tees. However, considering the rain that had fell previously, the course was in good condition.

Fantastic course worth visiting

The course itself is fantastic and worth visiting. The hotel is lovely and very suitable for your needs, clean and spacious. The food once arrived was nice but small portions. The pro shop and staff in there were brilliant and very accommodating. The biggest let down and very disappointingly so was the extreme slowness of the service of the hotel bar and catering staff. You could blame the current situation but it was appalling. Ruined the 4 day break for us.

Excellent course - poor greens :-(

Challenging Peter Alliss designed course unfortunately let down by the condition of the greens. Given the fact that the course has had a 3 month 'rest? due to Covid, the greens should have been in far better condition.
