Cheap for a reason
Every bunker was GUR and the majority of greens unplayable due to crows pecking them. The course could be good, if only it was looked after, as there are some well laid out holes.

Utterly Dreadful
If you read all the reviews below it will give you an idea on the ownership of this course. They do not care about the coursse whatsoever and have never put any money into it at all. the lack of bunkers, uncut grass, un-maintained greens is nothing new, it has been the case for atleast two years. There is 0 investment in this course at all. In January 2022 a load of sand was dumped into the middle of the bunkers on the front 9, and they asked the members to spread it out as they go round, What a joke. The back 9 they didnt bother even putting sand in and have left them as not in play since then.Avoid this course at all costs, hopefully they will sell up and someone who actually cares about the sport will buy it and breathe some life into the course again.

Dreadful course!
Awful course, fairways shocking, greens had moss and weeds growing everywhere, bunkers had grass growing through... mainly made up of stones instead of sand.. we were first out this morning, had to also put the flags out on every green as the man in the pro shop couldn't be bothered! Shocking course will never return. Barkway isn't too far away... I'd recommend there over Heydon any day of the week!Reviewer Rating

Very poor greens?
We all know the weather has been extreme, but the greens were dreadful. Apparently there is a sign in the shop saying the problem is not the weather, but crows. Several greens have crow kites fluttering in the wind to scare off birds. Also half of the bunkers were not in play, and the ones that were in play were in bad condition.Reviewer Rating

Heydon
Stunning clubhouse.Tee boxes are good fairway grass was cut tight and after a hot summer ground was rock hard so tough conditions. Greens had been watered and were average at best bunkers were all poor BUT for the money just to get out and knock a ball around really can't complain

Haven't played this course for some time, but it was ok. The first few greens were frozen but it was easy to find balls in the rough.Reviewer Rating

Good wet weather course
Heydon Grange has very good drainage and is open for play when most courses are closed. My friend and I played here in January 2020 when our original choice of course was carry only. Heydon Grange is a fairly flat course with views over the Cambridgeshire countryside. It is not the prettiest of course, with a limited number of trees.Despite the rain of recent days the course was in reasonable nick and we had an enjoyable round. The greens were probably the best aspect of the course though the bunkers could have been better.
We tend to play here when other course are struggling with the mud and rain and we certainly felt we made the right decision to play here this time. For ?15 it was good value.

tall grass in the rough keep on the fairway
not a bad course but slow in front of us which affected our speed of play. If you go off the fairway the rough will punish you.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: 27.4)

OK for price
I played after 2pm with a cheap rate about £12. Tee boxes OK. Fairways very good. Bunkers quite poor with small stones in them. Greens pretty poor, moss bare patches. Friendly staff.(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 108 Handicap: )

Surprisingly Dry
For the time of year the fairways are surprisingly dry and unyielding to the club with many “bounces” meaning the leading edge was contacting the ball because their was no divots. Bunkers also very compacted and hard(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 104 Handicap: 25.8)

Gone off the boil a bit
Used to be a great, easy to use club with 3 9 hole courses. During 2018 one course was closed with the aim of selling the land for housing with the result that the remaining courses are very busy and it isn't often not possible to turn up and play (as advertised) before 11:00. Course conditions not as good as they were.Reviewer Rating

Not so good
The Herts course is now closed (apparently permanently) making the course overall more crowded. The course is in reasonable condition, but the greens have been over-watered in places and are of unpredictable pace. One very inconsiderate green-keeper mowing the fairways, parking in the way of play - not helpful. Overall the experience is not as good as it used to be.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 105 Handicap: 29.8)

Greens disappointing
My friend and I played at Heydon in January 2018 for the first time in two years. As always. the course was generally in good condition despite the recent wet weather. What was disappointing was the condition of the greens. We have played here before in wet conditions but the greens have been much better than they were this time. We have long given up on the food here and go elsewhere. The green value is very good value and would certainly play here agin when other courses are waterlogged / unplayable.(Round played: Jan 2018 - Score: 116 Handicap: 28)

In need of some TLC
This could be a very nice course if it was given some much needed TLC. Some of the greens resembled cricket pitches in places, most bunkers barely had any sand in them. Overall course layout is good with some challenging holesReviewer Rating
