Very bland boring course except for 7 links holes. Definitely not worth £80, maybe £20 at best.
Do not book as part of a package with the ther local courses, as you will be very disappointed.
Rubbish practice facikities. I play of 13.

Very very disappointing.
Firstly, this is not a links course despite being listed as such in the excellent "true links" by campbell and pepper, at most 7 holes may try to lay claim to that, but barely in my view. It is basically marshland and as such gets flooded. When I played, 4 holes where closed and another 4 were totally submerged on the fairway. I played 4 extra holes to try to get a score.
What really annoyed me though was this is one of the most unfriendly clubs I've ever visited. The guy in the pro-shop was ok, but of the 6 other people I saw and greeted with a "good morning", 5 ignored me and 1 grunted. The only conversation was when I was getting changed - necessary as the only pair of trousers I had were now covered in mud after wading through the marsh - I was told that I couldn't enter the clubhouse in jeans (albit smart ones). I was glad to head out for my 300 mile drive back home, knowing I wouldn't return. If you're in the area try one of the many excellent "true links" courses in the immediate area, all of which are also much more friendly.
To be fair I got a reduced green fee, but I'd have prefered to pay full rate and meet friendly people.

Much better around

The course is ok, but it thinks that it is in the same league as other local courses such as Birkdale. The 17th hole is an abomination, maybe time for a new green keeping team. The club house is the best part of this place. Lovely building but in need of some modernisation. The paths around the course also resemble the roads of an Uzbekistan Village, don’t fall down the pot holes.

Very Average

There are a couple of great holes on this layout, but way too many average holes that means it does not represent good value. The greens were very good but the fairways were a bit messy.

Enjoyable links/parkland layout. In overall good condition. 14th and 15th lovely pair of holes. Greens were very good in mid May. Condition of some fairways average still recovering from last summer. Grass driving range is a bonus.

Course was recovering from storm Doris, so there were some wet areas. The greens were in excellent condition, however there were fair few winter tees and a shame to finish 18 on a temp green. Would love to play it in the summer. The service and welcome was excellent and was a lovely club house.

Very very boggy and wet - i think this course is built on a historically old marsh land and my buggy was gliding through pools of water on some holes on the actual fairways - challenging course and if you ever top the ball off the tee its game over ! i enjoyed it but wouldnt pay £80 to play here.

Some of the holes are excellent however, it is at times like two courses - a tight links style and an open parkland. Well looked after though.

If you are a Southern Softy and not used to playing links courses, this is hard. Like any course the 2nd time is much better, you know where to try to place the ball. Off the whites it is a long course, but very enjoyable. The walk is easy, but the rough is rough. Overall a very enjoyable course.

First 2 holes and then last 5 holes are what you would expect in terms of sand dunes. The rest of the course is in a parkland type style. Greens are good and reasonably fast.

Excellent test of golf in very good condition. Set on Southport coast with views across the marshlands and bird sanctuaries.

Great layout and always in really condition giving a proper challenge to pretty much all skill levels.
I would definitely recommend giving the place a try.

Course is good with some challenging holes. A few blind shots which isn’t great on your first visit. Staff were friendly and service a good. Would definitely play again and would probably appreciate it more second time round.

Great

Lovely course and very narrow in parts. Straighness off the tee is a must around the course. Great day
