Sadly the course has deteriorated (overplayed?) since I last visited over 18 months ago. All temp Tees, very wet/muddy. Greens awful - maybe due to being so wet. (However it was a sunny day).
The whole Course needs far more care

Course in very poor condition. greens had been treated. Why do this in August? Rest of course very scruffy. Bunkers were awful. Members in clubhouse very unwelcoming. Overall a very bad experience and won't be returning. A waste of money

The greens were a little bumpy, not sure the bunkers have seen much sand recently either. Definitely not looking as good as it has been in the past.

Played this course on 26/09/14 with a work society. First impressions were very good, except for the 'no changing of shoes in the car park' sign - what a ridiculous small minded rule (the sort of thing that can alienate new players). I changed my shoes there anyway. The club house was small but cosy with welcoming staff. The full English was excellent (part of our deal for the day). The Ryder Cup was showing on large screen TVs. However, the course disappointed. Short, hilly and claustrophobic. The 1st, 9th and 10th are all parallel par 4s of under 300 yards, with blind tee shots and tiny greens. The 9th tee is sandwiched between the 1st and 10th greens. As the 1st and 10th are steeply downhill, you are a sitting duck on the 9th tee. Not pleasant. The greens were lightning fast and generally very small, but not in good condition, with lots of bare patches. Some of the pin positions were ridiculously difficult, near the front of the green on steeply downhill holes. The grass on the fairways was generally too long, and the bunkers were a mixture of sand, earth and stones, really poor. There were far too many blind shots. The course is limited by the local topography, but it was far too tricky to be enjoyable for a high handicapper like me (24). Neither of playing partners particularly enjoyed it (23 and 11). I won't be clamouring to return. Good players might enjoy it though, particularly if they like mountaineering. At least Europe had a good first day at Gleneagles.

I usually enjoy this course with its great views & undulations but hadn't anticipated how much winter would affect it. Unfortunately the greens were more bobbly & uneven than expected & each tee was off a mat. The green fee was modest as a consequence but will stick to playing here in summer & autumn.

Informal, welcoming & very hilly

Helps to play with someone who is familiar with the course as several log legs/blind drives. Gets a bit squelchy in places, but is seldom closed.

Short course but well maintained

Short course and tight in places, well maintained throughout aside from a couple of mats on tees. Fast round (2:45) with two balls keeping good pace. The greens in the main valley tricky to hold on to given the slope with the shot, all greens in good condition and true. Short changed in bar (only mention it as payment issues was on another review)

Lot of work going on at the moment around the clubhouse so I’ve made allowances. It’s a pleasant setting, mature rolling parkland. Tight in places, greens were excellent, bunkers less so, fairways struggling from last year as are most places. The second is an excellent par 5, most greens are very challenging to hold and putt on.
Very tough walk, lots of blind shots and too many very short par 4’s. It’s a small acreage so doubt much length could be added. Two things that would improve it, it needs a first cut of semi rough, not deep stuff just off the fairway. Also needs colour coded flags, particularly with so many hidden greens.
Overall it’s worth a look, but a little pricey for what it is, I’d rank it slightly higher on here

Hard for 1st time

Lovely condition .. friendly staff.. greens were very good and seem very slick and quick.
Worth investing in a course guide as a lot of Shots are blind and u have no idea where you are hitting the ball too.
Your not aware of where golfers are in front of you as there are no bells to let you know your ready to hit. Guessing game really.

Have to play it a few times to get the hang of blind shots.

A course that is fun to play with two great downhill holes, balanced, as expected, with two uphill holes that test the legs [should have had a powered trolley]. It is a course that plays longer than the yardage, but as there are several blind shots, playing it more than once is a good idea.

Cowboys day

New course to me. Rolling hills. Blind tee shots abound. Greens hard to stop on but this is due to exceptional conditions this year. Very few flat holes. For a Sistine y.o. a bit hilly to walk but I did. Played well which helps.
