I was really disappointed with Hazel Grove when I played there a couple of weeks ago. I have fond memories of the couse as a kid in the 1970's but all the good holes seem to have been lost to an aborted road building project.
What is left is the mundane parts of the old course and some new holes which are completely out of character and uninspiring.
To paraphrase the club's website; Golf in Cheshire doesn't get any duller than this!

Played yesterday. Not the most exciting course I've played but not the worst. Greens were in good nick. Fairways decent enough but a bit bland.

Greens undergoing some work for this time of the year, This made putting a bit of a challenge but a nice course well worth playing and the club facilities food etc. excellent

The course was in poor condition to be honest. There was a lot of work ongoing so lots of ground under repair, the bunkers had no sand due to improvement work ongoing. Plus playing off very poor winter tees througout the round, most of which were so hard you couldn't get a tee in it.
However, I won't be scoring it too badly as it is February and the improvement work is a good thing and I wouldn't be put off going back in the summer because it is a well designed course.

Love the course, good facilities, would recommend to anyone although pin postions were very tough due to there being a tournament the day before

Course in great condition for this time of year
Played in a match there this week\Course presented in excellent condition for this time of year\Some very challenging holes, particularly par 3s, and you have to think your way round.\Some picturesque ponds and water features.\Good food afterwards and very pleasant friendly staff and members\Definitely worth a visitReviewer Rating

Seriously wet course, lovely in the dry but holds too much water so avoid if it's been raining the night before. Some nice holes, greens in good condition.

Great Facilities at this course and excellent challenging course but but not overly for the average player. few tees and holes close to each other or overlap so if busy could hold up play but not too significant. overall good course

The greens still have some pretty rough areas but are much improved. A good chance to score low on the back nine with interesting but relatively easy holes.

Bitterly cold day, early in the round the greens were hard, wet under foot in some areas but the club did an excellent job to open the course following a period of snow and freezing conditions earlier in the week.

Lovely course. Booked on Teeofftimes for £14.00. Well thought out holes, very well kept, well signposted to next tees. A lot of unrepaired pitch marks on the greens was the only bad thing I could say about it and that is the fault of the players/members, not the club.

Fairways were well tended. Greens were in poor condition and running very slowly. Rough was cut quite short so made playing some awkward shots a bit easier.

played course today for the 1st time and thought it was very good with some great holes although the condition was a bit on the wet side due to the heavy rain yesterday it held up very well,and the greens being on the fast side made for a good day, will return in the summer for sure.........

Played the course on the 19/12 after some really bad weather recently, the course was wet in areas but considering the weather was in excellent condition. Full greens in use which at this time of year is a huge bonus.
