Not Impressed
You would think through lockdown some courses would have improved. Not here, uneven tees, patchy greens, bunkers with and without sand, in general a very untidy golf course. Apparently there is a waiting list to join this club (so members tell me), well lets hope they're not waiting for golf course improvements!Reviewer Rating

the course played very well, the 9th is now a par 5 so it is 69 not 68, this although ive not played too much recently is my best round ever at this course, its not a very hard course but for the rain we have had its playing very well, there is one hole that has a temporary green but thats quite understandable, i still say that give it a few years and it will come on leaps and bounds, a lovely mornings golf, i was well pleased, the price is also so reasonable.

Gordenio at South Chesterfield.
The course was in good condition albeit the fairways and 1st cut meant the grass was a little long, Greens were very quick and quite tricky. Suspect the locality had experienced heavy rain which probably accounted for grass length. Play was unfortunately quite slow. The reception experience was good and the bar person pleasant and helpful. All in all a decent fays golf. We have played the course before and will no doubt return again ( 4 Ball)Reviewer Rating

Not a bad course
Staff very helpful n friendly fairways ok greens are good but the bunkers are crap some are rock hard with no sand in and the others have sand coming over you’re shoes and they are full of stones and pebbles so watch your irons don’t get damaged(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 86 Handicap: 9.9)

Recovered well from the Winter mud
Course in good condition, following very poor pre-Christmas mud.Quite open but play straight is still the order of the day.
Greens in good nick with the back nine in particular being "slopey"
Fairways a bit bare in places (maybe the dry spell hasn't helped) - pick and place allowed.
Just off fairway is sometimes preferable.
Very good value for money.

Amazing discovery of a course
We were looking for a cheap round of golf - £15 each tick. Didn't expect the course to be so great looking and in great condition. Sunny weather helped the day along, open fairways on some holes but a degree of thought required for most of the round. Cracking views and very tidily presented course. Driving range good too.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 90 Handicap: 5.1)

Great Course, tough greens
A very good course and great value for money.Although quite open the heavy rough still determines club selection from the tee, although a second visit would reap the benefits of knowing the "bail-out" areas.
Bunkers are G.U.R at these times and were not playable though lack of sand and poor condition anyway.
Greens large and undulating but very hard underfoot, making holding a ball on them very difficult.
A couple of short par 4s on the back nine makes even the higher handicaper feel like a pro ;-)

The course was in terrible condition, very dry and uneven bounces on fairways. The ball was bouncing over the flag from well short of the green and balls were impossible to stop. Once on the green the surfaces were reasonable. The tees were very bare and uneven. Fairways patchy and inconsistent with large areas of bare grass. Will not return to this course in the future. Tapton and Walton are much better courses in the area.

this course has undergone some severe changes to facilities and the course by adding new driving range and new parts to the course , once every thing has grown back and got reestablished it will be an excelent course only down side is the amount of mud etc as you come off at the 18th green

The course is beinging to take shape after taking a few years to do. 9th Green has been altered which ofers a flatter landing than downwards slope as it was before

This course has just undergone some major ground works and also introduced a large target driving range so was a bit boogy in places where the grass needs to grow back but once re established sholud be a cracking little course
being local to chesterfield this is the first time of playing this course and found it to be easy going but with some tough placed greens and well guarded by trees in places
facilities at the club are good with well stocked pro shop and friendly staff but a small dinning / bar area is the only down side i could find
we will definitly be playing here again

11 Sept two none members arive to play pre booked 18 holes for 10.40 am assured this was not a time effected by club match play or a busy time, checked in 10.30 am, and given go ahead to play. at first tee found four ball waiting to start ? followed their very slow play on first, than found another four ball waiting for second hole start ? slow play on second hole, arived third tee 11.20 to find three more four balls waiting to play third. estimated wait to play time 15/20 mins, with limited time availible to play we returned to club house, to ask why the course is so busy? and told the problem is members who turn up to play without booked tee time. the result is a string of ruined pre booked play times, on complaint got credit slip reurned to play again some time, but the thing is how do we or you know we will not have this problem again ?

Course is in development and needs some time to improve, the card is wrong as the 2nd is shown as a par 3 158 yard hole when infact it 300 par 4, the area around holes first 9 holes is a bit stark and rubble ! needs improvement greens very hard and not reseptive to a ball onto it just bounces through and some holes dont allow landing short and running on so sometimes a good shot is punished. but the groundwork looks promising.

£15 paid for Saturday morning. Course is very short full of short par 4s. Hit a decent drive and you wont be using a long or mid iron all day. Greens are very good and challenging. Scenary on back 9 is alot better than the front 9 which is being developed.

Nice course to play. Kept well and not too busy. Balls from driving range reach the fairway of hole 1. This is a hazard. Many need a protective net. Pleasant player. Neat gents. Big car park

I've always enjoyed the course. It's nothing special scenically, but is excellent value for money and the greens are challenging and in decent nick. Played yesterday, and the round was marred only by the horrendous winter mats. Half are decent, but the rest are atrocious. Slippy, lop sided. Impossible to get a tee in sometimes. The course has just had a revamp of the range with Trackman installed. Excellent news and I look forward to using the facilities. However, if you've hundreds of thousands to invest, is it too much to ask to get the basics righht on the course?
