What the club says: Glen Gorse is a very attractive mature parkland course of 6,648 yards from the Medal tees with a par and SSS of 72. Considered as one of the more exacting tests of golfing ability in Leicestershire, the strategically placed trees encountered on every hole mean that the straight hitter will extract the most reward from their round.
Most Helpful Review
I played here recently having booked through the website - paid £80 for a four ball.
I've been a few times before, but its probably been three years or so since I was last there.
Course was in good condition for the time of year and considering what their normal fees are this was great value. Some minor changes since my last visit, but all positive.
Course has some really testing strong par 4's and a good balance of par 3's.
Great 'halfway house' at the 12th hole, and good food in the clubhouse too.
Enjoyed it, definitely one I'll keep going back to - May 1 2013
Golf Course Reviews for Glen Gorse Golf Club
Have played this course before but only in summer. It was unfortunate that we played it this time on the coldest day of this winter and all the greens were temporary and the ground was frozen. Having said that this did not detract from our enjoyment. The course other than that was in excellent condition with only one tee mat. I do wish however that if temporary greens are employed the larger cups were used. Food in the clubhouse was good value and substantial
Great park land lay out super green in perfect condition great day from arrival book in process to post round lunch nothing was to much trouble
(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 112 Handicap: 23.6)
Course in superb condition , plenty of trees to avoid if you are to hit greens in regulation.
Greens are relatively small but fast with hidden undulations.
A mix of long and short par 4s with inviting par 5s .
Friendly reception from pro shop and bar staff , Sky Sports on the tv.
On a Monday afternoon the course was not very busy. The person in the pro\'s shop was friendly and helpful. The course is in good condition, with fairways that are a bit dry & bouncy. The greens are excellent, cut short making them quick and true. The layout means there are plenty of tight holes; the par 5\'s are fairly straight forward and this needs to be where a good score will be made. The last three holes are long par fours where good shots can still produce a bogey.
