Charging far too much for the condition of the course £35. The greens were covered in sand and very long. They were so slow it was a joke really. Rest of course quite boggy with balls easily lost and plugged in rough. Some nice looking holes but over all should have been £15 at most. Also saw a first in 30 years of golf, a physical fight in the car park between a member and visitor over the use of a trolley without winter wheels. Entertaining at least.

Bitter Sweet!!!

I would like to start by saying the course and the gentleman in the pro shop were absolutely spot on. However, once our round had finished and we went to purchase a drink from the clubhouse we were approached by a member of the course who asked us what we thought of the course (very friendly) only for him to follow it up with "just a couple of things lads"..... He then proceeded to tell me I weren't allowed to wear my cap indoors (even though I was going back outside with my drink), and also that "a few members" had complained that our golf shirts were not tucked in. I do not understand the attitudes of members like this at golf courses I actually had to look around to see were I was at the time and yes it was Gathurst in Wigan and not Muirfield or St Andrews. I can honestly say if every course I visited had members like this I would happily sell my clubs and not play golf ever again! So much for growing the game and all that. Such a shame.

I must again reiterate that the gent in the pro shop was first class, even after we had told him about our experience.

Suffering a little

I really like the layout of the course and in perfect conditions it would be great. Greens seemed to be suffering with the heavy storms recently as they were slow and bobbly. Nice course tho

well worth a visit

Well maintained course with good variety of holes. Don't go near the pond on the right with your first tee shot, the Canada geese have made a 50 yd toilet area. Once past that the course is fine with a number of tricky holes with slopes and penalising lateral ditches along quite a few holes. Greens are of reasonable size. Clubhouse was good and post match meal was ok.

course was wet, & 2 greens were on temporary
But overall the course was good value for Money, & as the Summer progresses this course will be very good

Course was in lovely condition. Only downside is perhaps the length, as it is quite a comfortable course. I'd certainly play again though.
