Rang and asked was food available as we were travelling from Manchester for 9am tee, was told bacon sandwich would be ready. On arrival no food or drink available, was told for residents only till twelve o'clock, so played 9 holes through mud and water, sunny day but waterlogged cousre, at twelve o'clock went for sandwich and drink only to be told not serving golfers only overnight guests. Absolutely fuming, give this place a miss, or starve.

Awful

Been playing here many years but this is the worst I’ve seen it. Balls plugging in fairways, rough a complete swamp. Greens like a garden lawn.

It's ok, that's about all you can say. It's attached to hotel so it's good for societies and guests but there is a reason they have no members and that's likely that the course isn't good enough.
Fairways and teebeds aren't cut short enough. Bunkers are iffy at best.
Greens were true but very slow.
Good food afterwards at least.

Not the best

Played here for the last few years and the course is not in good condition. The fairways are not good and it's not unusual to lose a ball plugged on the fairways. The first cut of rough is very rough and you can look for ball all day. On some holes you can't see where the fairway starts and ends. Most of the greens are good but the first is awful with bare patches and been like that for a couple of years now.

Typical hotel course

Clubhouse is nice enough as was the food after.
Not much in the way of practise facilities other than a putting green.
The course is ok. It was quite wet for August and I'd imagine the drainage is pretty poor most of the year.
Greens were generally ok other than the 1st which was very poor.
The bunkers were a disgrace. Didn't look like they had been touched this year with weeds growing out of them and more like sinking sand that something you'd play golf out of.
Fortunately it's rather cheap but with the amount of greenstaff they had out it wouldn't take much to get the bunkers at least playable.

This Course suffers somewhat in Winter and Spring with heavy conditions, being parkland. Very little run on the ball, which can plug - even on fairways - on high shots.

Pros: fairways and bunkers in great condition, and rough cut to a good length where its not too difficult to get out but still an added challenge.
Cons: greens are atrocious, worst Ive ever played on. Also the website claims its good for all year round play due to good natural drainage, thats an utter lie. 1 minor shower in the last week and the course continued to swallow balls, this time of year thats inexcusable.
Nice layout but Ill definitely never return, overall a poor course.

Had a bad round today. Had to wait on every tee for at least 5 or 10 mins because of very slow play. Might seem petty to some but there was no water in any of the ball cleaners anywhere on the course. Every bunker seemed to have had a herd of cattle run through them ie not been raked when there was a rake present in every bunker. Lots and lots of divots and ball marks on nearly every green that hadn`t been repaired. Toilets didn`t have any soap in the dispenser. Weather was lovely so we decided to sit outside which didn`t last long because there was an infestation of wasps. Very disappointed all round today.

Quite a flat open track this one, but some long par 4's.

Plenty of fairway to aim at on most holes but smallish greens make approach tricky - freezing rain killed any run so hard to tell how would usually play.

Nice restaurant for all day brekkie after game.

You wouldn't have thought it was 10 years old

This is a course which has serious potential, but really needs to have some serious investment on the club house, facilities and course to be classed as a good golf club.
It has no warm up facilities, with the exception of a putting green. Fairways are just a bit too long in grass length and a few extra hazrds wouldn't go amiss.
That being said the green keepers are doing a great job job all round.
It's technically a simple course to play, and houses some long par 4's which add the challenge, espescially as you come to the end of the round.

Very flat

Played a four ball, and it was very enjoyable. Disappointed that there are no distance marker posts. The greens should have been in better condition considering hardly any play for 5 months. Not many hazards and very flat so would be ideal for starters.
