Poor Condition

Played the course twice this week, the course was in extremely poor condition.

Lots of work going on but everywhere is unfinished, it looks like they’ve started everywhere with no plan.

Green were especially poor, need watering & were the length of most clubs fairways.

New clubhouse is nice but took 55 mins to get a tuna sandwich & chips were stone cold. Was hardly anyone else eating either so not sure what the wait was.

I wouldn’t rush back to play anytime soon

Was a great shame!!! Away on business and this course is part or my clubs reciprocal, so free round. Played off the whites, which were difficult to find at times, greens not too good and bunkers needed some sand in the ones I went in. I played 12 holes as was a little disappointed, 3 ball ahead were veeeeery slow, was expecting more from an evening round.

Greens not at all receptive, bunkers like concrete, green-keeper decided it was a good idea to cut the aprons whilst we were putting out.

Nice course with a nice clubhouse but the greens were pretty poor which lets down the course. Not the easiest to navigate either.

Well, if you building an extension and you are short of some sand and ballast, there is plenty in the bunkers. Despite the wettest summer for years, someone seems to have dug the greens up and laid concrete instead. Nice layout, some really good holes, too many doglegs though, but the electricity pylons were a bit unnerving

At £34.00 for a round on a Saturday at the end of February for such a distinctly average golf course is a rip off, I would expect the winter green fee here to be nearer £20.00 for value for money. Adding insult to injury are the numerous adverts around the course saying 2 course meat and 18 holes for £22.50 Monday to Friday!

The front 9 is pretty dull with few holes offering any real interest, the second 9 makes this course, far better designed holes and more pleasurable to play. (For the record I shot the same score on front and back 9 so this is not a rose tinted view).

The course does not drain very well and given the recent rainy season it showed as drives frequently landed and stopped almost instantly. The greens were reasonable, medium paced I'd say (unless putting down some of the severe slopes) with a few unexpected bobbles, I'll put this down to foot prints in the soft turf, should be a lot better in dryer times)

Overall, I'd play this course again in good conditions but at this price I'd give it a miss this time of year.

Nice course worth a visit

Nice course worth a visit if you are in the area. we were unfortunate to play a pair who were very slow and would not let us through but it did not spoil our enjoyment. Course played well, some very interesting holes, especially in the wind which was quite strong at times. Greens good, had nice afternoon. All staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend and would play again when in the area.

Fun

Golfshake Team ReviewNice friendly course. Not the best condition I have ever played but its a nice layout.
The white tees are funny and hidden in places so grab a course guide.
The greens are fairly large and flat in places so don't read too much into the breaks.
Overall I would go and play again but probably woundn't go out of my way to.
