This is the best value membership deal in Gloucestershire.
Parts of the course can be seen as a little rough around the edges (no warm up net or ball washers) however the course is interesting enough to not get board but isn't tight so pace of place is normally fairly good. It could also do with a bigger putting green and chipping green which they appear to be considering near the first tee.
The course is fairly average in length and is fairly open. There is a good selection of gentle undulations which you go up and down throughout the course, this is not a hard walk. It has two par 5s which are risk and reward holes with either water or OoB if you want to go for them in two. It doesn't have any overly long par 4s so you shouldn't be hitting many 3 woods or hybrids off the deck if you're a medium length hitter of the golf ball. Not every hole is an instant driver off the tee due to ditches and shot shape patterns.
The greens are on the smaller side, however they're much larger than Painswick and the Monmouth courses which are two fantastic courses in the area known for having small greens.
Members and staff here are friendly and welcoming to new members & visitors. Lots of societies play here and stay in the hotel. The club house is normally fairly busy but rarely packed with sport on the TV. The club house does good food and has a pretty good selection of drinks for a golf club.
With the exception of when rain has been very heavy (two weeks in late December) the course has been open all year with no temporary greens. It has two bells on holes 1 and 14, which the club desperately need to put a sign up for (especially 14).
I would high recommend this club if you're planning a society day as this will suite all golfers of different abilities and fitness levels, it has bargain green fees. You can have a relaxing game of golf without having to worry about losing too many golf balls.
Playing this course in May the course is in superb condition. I've marked this course as fairly easy because you can go fairly off line without losing balls, that said I've had shocking games where I've lost 3 or 4 balls but I've also gone over 36 holes without losing one, which wouldn't happen at most courses.

Nice parkland course
A nice parkland course, well laid out & in fantastic condition.Fairly open, so you can have a go at it, bit there are a good mix of trees & water if you're really wayward.
Look out for the 10th hole a split fairway running down to a brook makes you think off the tee & the superb 12th. Tee down to the Brook, then you have the choice if laying up, or going for the island green.
The 8th is a cracking par 5 as well.
The hotel is comfortable, the food good & the staff friendly. All in all a good golfing experience.

I'm a member here.
This course has very good value for money.Although this course doesn't excel in anything.
It also isn't boring. The course has nice gentle undulations with a variety of holes. There is enough challenge here to keep you coming back but you're not going to lose balls either. There are holes where the big hits take the advantage but you also don't need to hit the cover off the ball to shoot a good score here.
The greens are fair for this time of year. Although I do wish they would top dress 4, 7, 12, 13 because they absorb a lot of water when it rains.
A few ball cleaners and some more work on a few greens would improve the experience here massively and a net to warm up in would be great and a practice green to chip onto.
But you're not going to feel over charged and you will have a nice day here. I see lots of very happy societies and a members are brilliant. I popped on the course very early Sunday morning and got a round in by myself in 2:30 minutes however the course can be very busy at peak times, so take a beer and some crisps..

Membership
This isn't the most exciting track in GloucestershireHowever it is exceptional value for money.
It has enough about it to keep better player coming back but you're not going to lose many balls around this course.
This is a good course to learn to play golf. Also as a member I can say everyone is pretty friendly.
It could do with a nett to warm up in. It does have a putting green and I don't thnk anyone is going to mind if you chip onto it. It is a small putting green, so the value of chipping onto it will be lost anyway.
