Hit a drive, wedge in, nothing much else going on except it’s severe topography. Greens are very good but the price of a round is ridiculously overpriced. Practice facilities and other amenities are non existent. The clubhouse is poor as is the service from the bar staff and Proshop. Avoid this place to avoid disappointment.

Very tough on a hot day

It was a course that didn't suit my eye and typical levels of enjoyment. However, there are some great holes on the course. I particularly enjoyed holes 12-18. It's a very up and down course, a few holes holes set on the side of the valley which made some of the holes very tricky in terms of lies. I would come back but not in a rush. Definitely need trolleys and buggies would be ideal.

The Flackwell Experiment

Not played at Flackwell Heath for around 17-18 years, but one thing you don't forget about the course is the heart stopping hills !!! There are several severe steep inclines, which to me, take the enjoyment out of a pleasant walk playing golf. Flackwell has some nice holes and some very tricky holes and as such, is a good test of your golf game. The society I play in have all left the club where we normally played and have joined Flackwell for what they deem to be a fairly good membership deal. As much as I enjoyed playing there again, I'll only be returning every 3-4 months to play there with the society, as there are so many other courses I'd like to play. The clubhouse and pro-shop are well presented and the hospitality is first class. I'll be back, when it suits me, not because I've paid a ?1.2k membership fee, which would mean justifying playing their every weekend because of it.

Lovely course - in great condition. You do need to be able to climb well here thoughas its on the side of a steepish hill. Good club facilities. A breakfast service would have been welcome though. We did meet a member who was a little snooty unfortunately.

Good Parkland Track

Flackwell is an excellent parkland course just by the M40.
It was in fantastic condition for early February, particularly the greens which were superb.
The first 12 holes are superb, excellent use of the terrain with some great views across Buckinghamshire.
The 3rd, 5th & the 8th are challenging par 3's, two down hill & one up hill. Take at least one club extra on the 8th.
The 13th to the 18th are a little less inspiring, but still nice nonetheless.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Challenging Layout

Very physically demanding course, with many holes on hills. Would recommend a buggy.
I think it would suit the lower handicapper better. High handicaps (such as me) struggle to get decent scores on the longer holes.
Course was in good condition, although the greens had just been treated, which meant putting was trickier than it would be normally. The bunkers need re-sanding as most had a very gritty, harsh sand which meant escapes were not straight-forward. Good value for money overall.

Half hillside, half parkland in good condition

Interlaced parkland (8 hols) and hillside (10 holes) course in good condition, aside from the one bunker entered (green side 17th) that had inadequate sand. Fast greens that somewhat misleadingly didn’t take the camber. Parkland rather up and down but made up for by the interesting hillside ones.

Good course

I've played here 3 times in the last couple of months in varying weather conditions and it's a really good course to play. A bit hilly, but is drains well. There are not really any boring straightforward holes, there's always a challenge, especially on the greens. Very enjoyable. The only thing I would criticise is the bunkers as they sand is very gritty and stoney in places and could do with upgrade, but otherwise lovely. The staff are all friendly and they have good ale in the bar.

It was raining but the course was great

I played in a Senior's Inter Club match after the wettest month for decades if not ever!
Whilst on the first tee it hammered down and there was a strong wind.

However the course was in excellent condition there were a couple of bunkers with water in otherwise it played extremely well. The greens were in lovely condition and rolled truly. The Fairways were lovely as well.

It is a tricky course and requires sensible shot making and it is quite difficult to work out distances just by eye. A really enjoyable course and the Clubhouse was excellent. The welcome good, and the food and drink lovely.

An excellent day out in what should have been awful conditions. I MUST make the effort to play it in better conditions especially now I know what to look out for on the course.

Lovely tidy course.

Nice course just off the M40. Some difficult holes whilst others were more accessible if you were straight off the tee. 4th hole is challenging, tee shot down into the valley and the steep shot into green, whilst the par 3 5th is a gem of a hole as played downhill to a relatively small green. the first 9 holes were muddy but very playable given the amount of rain.

Good, challenging test

A tough track built on the side of a hill, posing different questions on each of the 18. Course in excellent condition generally, greens true and relatively quick. Good value twilight ticket in the afternoon/evening. Tough par 3s, some excellent par 4s and a couple of good par 5s. You've got to be in control of your game to score well here.

Firstly I have to mention the very warm welcome I got in the pro shop. The guy went out of his way to make sure I knew where everything was, and when you get a great welcome like that a part of you already has an upbeat feeling heading to the first tee.

As for the course, it was every bit as enjoyable. The front twelve(!) have a number of fairly steep climbs to them, although it mostly flattens out once you return to the clubhouse to play the remaining six holes.

While there are a number of really good holes here, the par 3's probably stand out from the rest. All four of them are far from simple pars, and really easy on the eye.

The fairways, tees and greens were all in very good condition, and I imagine would be excellent once the weather warms up.

I'm looking forward to playing here again very soon!
