Fairways to close to each other,have to walk a gauntlet of balls from other holes.
Greens terrible state, either bald patches or full of moss.

I was pleasantly surprised by Farthingstone. I played many years ago & didn't have great memories, but I was wrong.
It's a great lay out with some fantastic holes, many of them tree lined & a good number of clever dog legs, water hazards & green placements.
It's a test for a decent golfer, yet I could see a novice still enjoying a round here.
For the time of year it was in fantastic condition, particularly the bunkers, which were superb.
I have to be honest, the hotel is looking tired & needs a few quid spending on it, but the staff were superb & couldn't do enough for you. However you have to balance that off against a fantastic DBB rate, which included 4 pints!!
All in all an excellent parkland course, just needs the hotel to back it up.

A tricky tight course in places and one you definitely need to avoid the trees with. A nice walk and a great design course, the clubhouse and shop are both excellent. Staff are very friendly and the cost of the visit is in the great value for money category. There are some challenging hills to climb so be aware for your level of fitness but a great venue to visit.

Excellent golf course with a good variety of holes, great for all handicaps, but, it is hilly but never the less enjoyable and in great condition.

Friendly
We spend a few days a year here and really like the people very welcoming and friendly . The fairways are always in great condition . The greens are improving and we know they were poor but are coming back after work being done(Round played: Nov 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: 13.5)

Excellent value
The layout of this course was good, not that i played it very well, it did need a bit of work on the greens as not the best i have putted on. The clubhouse is a bit tired.Reviewer Rating

Very disappointing
A very disappointing visit today having played a few years ago this course sadly has been let down badly by staff neglect. The clubhouse, shop and staff were all friendly enough but where it matters i.e. on the course it was in a very poor state presented to play. No maintenance on the trees and shrubs made it very tight and almost blind in places to play your ball. The course obviously need rain but the greens were some of the worse played for many a year by our society.(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 99 Handicap: 18.7)

Good price for the course
?25 for a round is a good price for a round in this area, greens aren't great but playable. Extremely wet week before we played so course was understandable sodden in places.Reviewer Rating

Total Rubbish
Greens in terrible condition. Don't waste your money. I was really looking forward to getting back to golf after the lockdown. Farthingstone was the only local club that had tee time, and I can see why. I have no idea what the green staff were doing over the break but it was nothing to do with the course. Fairways needed cutting but the greens are truly terrible. They had been cored (fair enough it needs doing) but the amount of sand over the top was a joke, way too much and it was in mounds and not spread out properly. Maybe this was to try and cover up the mountain like surface they had. You could not take putting seriously on them. They even had cutting left on them!! The course is a nice layout, hilly but with a good mixture of holes. Just a massive shame no one looks after it. If you just want to hit balls on a course then its ok but if you want to 'play golf' its best avoided, which is a shame.Reviewer Rating

Very damp under foot but played nicely. Nice reception and helpful considering being hard times.

Challenging
Lovely short but challenging course that makes you think about your shots . The course was very wet when we played and it suffered as a whole but can see how good condition but was a few weeks earlierReviewer Rating

Great track in countryside
Hidden in countryside down long winding lane, this is a parkland course with varied holes some hilly, few doglegs and every hole unique. Played in four all and throughly enjoyed challenge of it, greens needed some attention though have had lot of summer use and rains of late, worth a visitReviewer Rating
