The greens were very bad condition, fairways were very dry and bumpy
We didn't pay a lot as seniors but there are better courses for the money

played the short par 3 as wanted to just have a little swing. tee box is non-existent, the ball is buried in grass when you try to place it. no markings on the tee boxes, no marks telling you where the next hole it either.
very hard to differentiate between the green and the fairway as the grass is not cut on either of them. would avoid this at all costs as i would not consider this a golf course.

I played the short 9 par 3 course and it is probably the worst course I have played. The tee off area is terrible you cannot even tell where the tee off is the ground is maintained very well and I don't even think there is a drainage system. this place will make you hate gold rather then enjoy it!!! I wouldn't even consider it as a golf course and also not the cheapest U can get much better golf for cheaper price else where

This course is lucky to even get 1 star!! The greens were slow, the short roughs needed cutting (lost too many balls when I should of found them easily), paid £28 for a round at 15:25 on a weekend, anywhere else would of been twilight fees. I made a complaint to the rude staff that worked here, then I asked to speak to the manager. He gave me the council\'s number to call to complaint and offered me a free round next time I come... Which I will not be using because I will never return to this course again! Don\'t waste your time or money!!

The worst par 3 course I have EVER been on. I am 10 years old and my Nan took me there today. My Nan had to ask/tell four people (and two dogs) to move off the course. Firstly, there was a Mother and Father with A BABY using the fairway as a park! Secondly, a man and two children (one on a bike!) who were also walking over the fairway. Then, a boy was running around a greenside bunker, presumably about to build a sandcastle! Lastly, a man and two dogs walked about as if he were in a park! Also, the course was in a terrible condition and not worth the charge £17. We both agreed we would never go again!

I played teh par 3 yesterday to tighten up my short game. The course was in a dreadful state. The greens were a mixture of dead grass, bare mud and moss. The tee boxes were patchy. The bunkers were unkempt without a rake in sight. Dog's everywhere, joggers running across greens. at £8.50 it's pretty cheap but i'll never go back.

I must say, even though this is a public course I've never seen so many distracting dog walkers and nongolfers disrupting play in my 20 years playing this game. On the first hole there even was a man without a shirt and his two dogs where the man was hitting golf balls all over the first hole. He even took a shot at the green where I was standing over my putt. All I could do is shake my head. On another tee box I was about to hit when a lady shouted at her dog only 10 yards away from me and proceeded to walk right behind me on the tee. It's not a place I will revisit. Very distracting and nongolfers have no business on the course, especially when they do not abide by the edicate of the game. A big shame. The course conditions were horrendous as well with uncut grass which was overgrown for a rough.

The par 5s provide some challenge, but the greens are in need of repair.

This is an interim view because I really like this course. However, the clubhouse is closed at present due to total refurbishment although you can get a beer from the restaurant next door to drink outside. This is OK on a sunny day but I'm not sure what happens if it's raining. Also, on this visit, the greens were the worst I've ever known them and really need some work. As I say I normally rate this course as being excellent value for money and worth a visit for a fun day out but, until the clubhouse is finished and the greens improve, you might want to give it a miss.

Not a bad course, but this is part of a huge complex and it looks like funds are spent elsewhere as some bunkers for example didn't even have a rake

Having not been here for a while and having seen some poor reviews on the internet I wasn't sure quite what to expect. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. The course was in decent nick if not fantastic and the greens were ok with the exception of one where someone appeared to have lit a campfire! Clubhouse is pleasant with views over the lake. As long as you don't expect too much you can have a pleasant round at a reasonable price.

I have played the course on many occasions, it's where I learnt how to play the game so I do have some emotional attachment to the course. However, it is without doubt the worst course in Essex. Dog walkers, runners, people bunking on, geese poo everywhere and less said about the greens the better. But if you are a high handicap player and want to play a course that will not punish you to much then go but be prepared.
