Lodge
Great to get out on a proper golf course, having played on many mud tracks this spring thanks to the miserable English spring, Flew round 18 holes on the Lodge as the other course was busy and hadn’t booked, loved it, some drainage work is going on with big machines but that didn’t effect our game and it was in great condition, had to park on the grass would be my only small mark offReviewer Rating

Lodge
18 Holes on the Lodge as the Highgate was busy, so glad it was, some lovely holes many like Woburn and then some cracking Heathland holes. Course for almost April was fantastic, winter rate. members saying they were getting it ready for a tournament for the Army. First time on the Lodge and would definitely give it a go again.Reviewer Rating

Autumn Golf at its best
First time visit and what a 36 holes, played both the Highgate and the Lodge, both beautiful and no idea which is my favourite loved both, maybe the Highgate edged it ?? The greens fantastic and approaches that you could putt off ! Some great par 4’s and many holes to remember such as the short 5th Highgate the long 6th which is a cracker and the. On the Lodge the stunning short 17th and visually stunning 2nd - loved itReviewer Rating

What a track played the Lodge shorter of the 2 courses but didn’t have time to play the other which is supposed to be just as good. Greens amazing best I’ve played this year, beautiful holes and manicured to perfectionReviewer Rating

What a lovely course the shorter of the two courses but my favourite. Greens Smooth as anywhere I have played, you have to think your way around and it contrasts between Heath and Tall Pines a beautyReviewer Rating

Staffs Winter ProAm
A Day at Enville on the Heath Course, Prime Condition especially for Mid November, Lovely Course transformed since I played back in 2014, after a bit of an unwelcome reception in the shop the day was great once id found my way to the bacon sandwiches and organiser, play was slow with the amount of teams and with forward Tees it did mean many holes we had to wait for the green to clear. Some lovely holes particularly the par 3 5th and 14th. Greens true and quick for November Golf our team was pretty average but the day was top level.Reviewer Rating

Great Day
When our pro asked me to play in a Pro Am at Enville I have to say had not heard of it before, only doing some research did it start to excite me including looking on this site. Arrived for a midday tee off time, hit some balls on the stunning range which i struggled to find until a fellow competitor pointed it out to me before venturing out for our knock, it also has 3 chipping greens but i didn't have time to use those. The only thing id say was the pace of play was very slow but you get that in pro ams, the golf course is a treat from Tee to Green, some stunning holes, some better then others with the front 9 playing a touch short. The greens are just on point first class, presentation amazing with approaches so tight i struggled on the first couple of holes with my chips so I putted off them they were that good. I loved the 17th and 18th Holes. They also have another course we played the Highhill but the Lodge is supposed to be just as good. To sum it up the venue is a must play and i'm embarrassed to say as a golfer who has played around the UK for many a year id never heard of it.Reviewer Rating

Despite the torrential rain, 2 days previously, the course had stood up very well. The greens were understandable slower than expected, fairways were in great condition, but some bunkers were still waterlogged.
Playing in the afternoon, we were never rushed and enjoyed our round.

Stunning course
This time we played the Highgate and everyone in our group loved it. Greens were easily the best we have played on all year. Not sure which is best out of the Highgate or the Lodge, we will need to go back and play both again! At £65 it has to be one of the best value courses aroundReviewer Rating

Best day of golf you can have in the Midlands. Period
I play 100+ rounds a year and often in different parts of England, so I don't mean this lightly that Enville is exceptional golf and a great value day out for £100: 2 top courses comparable to some the best with no pretentiousness. Quite the opposite this is one of the friendliest clubs I know.Heather Mulley the manager was brilliant in helping me organise my revisit, Scott and Richard in the pro shop were so efficient getting my tee times adjusted at the last minute and Simon so kind in helping set up the catering for me. The bar staff were so lovely Melissa (Mel) the head of catering and Lucy was so attentive to everyone (5 full tables of diners/drinkers at any one time under cover.) Both were delightful and so efficient, no one was left unattended or without their food and drink.
I’d warmly recommend the local Enville bitter (pale ale) for £3.20 and the Captain’s club sandwich for lunch £6 – it’s an incredible value menu.
We played both courses in March last year and at a brisk pace we just finished both; so when we played this May, we had loads of daylight (and sunshine), unrushed golf 3 hour 45 minute rounds and bags of time to take in the gorgeous surroundings – plus 1 hour 45 for lunch and long use of the incredible practice facilities the likes of which I have never seen anywhere!
There is a large driving range area on grass (which I did not use) which appeared to take £1 coins. There were 3 enormous, perfectly manicured greens for chipping practice and bunker play behind the main carpark. (Wow, if I was a member here, I’d be there every evening and playing off single fingers in no time!)
The 2 courses are carefully crafted out of heathland and 2 areas of woodland and all played on exceptional firm fairways and the greens are out of this world. Immaculate, pure, unblemished. Just the best I can remember!
The Lodge is heathland for holes 1-3 then 12-18 within dense woodland – incredibly picturesque tight (mostly straight fairways, except for a tight dog leg on 9). Then back to the heathland section.
Lodge, this is slightly more picturesque with elevated tees looking down tree lined fairways. Some stunning tee shots. One of my favourite holes is the approach to a sunken green on 11 which I could play all day every day, swiftly followed by the elevated tee shot on 12. Then on 13 it is back to the wonderful heathland section. What a run of 3 holes that is!
Highgate is heathland for 1-7 and 17-18 with the middle in more spacious woodland with more open fairways but great fun fairways, chopping and changing elevation and direction. Again, very attractive course with some good fun holes and approaches. It has 2 really long par 3’s (200+ yards off yellow) which are tough, especially 16 mostly over water.
For those who travel there are incredible similarities with Notts Hollinwell, Formby, Forest Pines, Beau Desert… even the Highgate’s 17th tee has similarities to the 12th at Royal St David’s in Harlech.
I’d sum it up using the F’s
Friendly
Firm fairways
Forests of fir tree-lined fairways
Fun
Fantastic views
Fair test of golf – you need to put your shots in the right place to have a second shot or approach to the green.
I’ve decided to save hard every month and treat myself to 3 rounds at Enville this summer.
