Stunning course
This time we played the Highgate and everyone in our group loved it. Greens were easily the best we have played on all year. Not sure which is best out of the Highgate or the Lodge, we will need to go back and play both again! At £65 it has to be one of the best value courses aroundReviewer Rating

Best day of golf you can have in the Midlands. Period
I play 100+ rounds a year and often in different parts of England, so I don't mean this lightly that Enville is exceptional golf and a great value day out for £100: 2 top courses comparable to some the best with no pretentiousness. Quite the opposite this is one of the friendliest clubs I know.Heather Mulley the manager was brilliant in helping me organise my revisit, Scott and Richard in the pro shop were so efficient getting my tee times adjusted at the last minute and Simon so kind in helping set up the catering for me. The bar staff were so lovely Melissa (Mel) the head of catering and Lucy was so attentive to everyone (5 full tables of diners/drinkers at any one time under cover.) Both were delightful and so efficient, no one was left unattended or without their food and drink.
I’d warmly recommend the local Enville bitter (pale ale) for £3.20 and the Captain’s club sandwich for lunch £6 – it’s an incredible value menu.
We played both courses in March last year and at a brisk pace we just finished both; so when we played this May, we had loads of daylight (and sunshine), unrushed golf 3 hour 45 minute rounds and bags of time to take in the gorgeous surroundings – plus 1 hour 45 for lunch and long use of the incredible practice facilities the likes of which I have never seen anywhere!
There is a large driving range area on grass (which I did not use) which appeared to take £1 coins. There were 3 enormous, perfectly manicured greens for chipping practice and bunker play behind the main carpark. (Wow, if I was a member here, I’d be there every evening and playing off single fingers in no time!)
The 2 courses are carefully crafted out of heathland and 2 areas of woodland and all played on exceptional firm fairways and the greens are out of this world. Immaculate, pure, unblemished. Just the best I can remember!
The Lodge is heathland for holes 1-3 then 12-18 within dense woodland – incredibly picturesque tight (mostly straight fairways, except for a tight dog leg on 9). Then back to the heathland section.
Lodge, this is slightly more picturesque with elevated tees looking down tree lined fairways. Some stunning tee shots. One of my favourite holes is the approach to a sunken green on 11 which I could play all day every day, swiftly followed by the elevated tee shot on 12. Then on 13 it is back to the wonderful heathland section. What a run of 3 holes that is!
Highgate is heathland for 1-7 and 17-18 with the middle in more spacious woodland with more open fairways but great fun fairways, chopping and changing elevation and direction. Again, very attractive course with some good fun holes and approaches. It has 2 really long par 3’s (200+ yards off yellow) which are tough, especially 16 mostly over water.
For those who travel there are incredible similarities with Notts Hollinwell, Formby, Forest Pines, Beau Desert… even the Highgate’s 17th tee has similarities to the 12th at Royal St David’s in Harlech.
I’d sum it up using the F’s
Friendly
Firm fairways
Forests of fir tree-lined fairways
Fun
Fantastic views
Fair test of golf – you need to put your shots in the right place to have a second shot or approach to the green.
I’ve decided to save hard every month and treat myself to 3 rounds at Enville this summer.

CLUTCH PRO CADDY
I feel ashamed I hadn't even heard of Enville Golf Club let alone the Lodge course, the place is amazing although they could have given us better weather. My player and Groups were all gushing in praise for the condition of it, greens electric and certainly the best we have seen this year. It is definitely somewhere I need to return to play with my own clubs.Reviewer Rating

Autumn Delight
Our small society visited Enville for the first time, we play many heathland courses particularly this time of year due to how dry they usually are. Highgates was the course we played which is the longer of the two. The course has to be one of the best I've played with some lovely holes. Great condition for October. The approaches were as good as some of the greens we have putted on recently, all the group commented on them with the greens firm and fast considering the recent deluge of weather we have experienced. Worth a visit and will be back to play the Loop Course.Reviewer Rating

Treat of a Venue
What a great venue to enjoy an away visit during these difficult times. Its an amazement that I had never played here before, yes its a bit out of the way and off the motorway its a bit of a challenge to get to but once here it's worth every effort. Pro shop wasnt open when we arrived but we were welcomed by food table by the clubhouse - cracking start !. Played the Lodge first what a joy, followed by the Highgate the next day, both are gems although the Highgate plays a little longer the lodge was equally as tough and interesting. Greens were super smooth and the place was in lovely order.Reviewer Rating

Amazing Venue
Played the Highgate before and what a treat that was but today was the turn on the Lodge, day before a pro event and what a joy, the course is so well manicured, greens a treat and so true. Some great holes \\\\\\\"beautiful\\\\\\\" as my partner would say. Practice facilities are great, not the greatest of welcomes in the shop but that was soon forgotten about with a lovely chat with one of the members, considering all the Covid issues food and drink was great. Well worth a visit in fact id make several you wont get better value in the midlands playing on such quality.

Jewel in the Staffordshire Crown
I now see what the hype is all about! Two fantastic courses in one club, how greedy of them!! We paid the winter day rate and just about managed to squeeze both in before the light faded too much.We played Highgate first. Thoughtfully laid out with some beautiful holes that challenge you without being spectacular. Every hole is different though. You never feel like you're just playing up and down. However, we realised this was just the prelude to the real gem that is the Lodge course.
The Lodge course is as good as any inland course you will find. Immaculate and pristine fairways are tree-lined and undulating. It evokes thoughts of classic courses like Wobourn. So many greens nestle in a cave of pine trees that challenge you to get your distances correct to avoid going beyond and into danger.
Brilliant day, wonderful golf and if you have ever toyed with the idea of playing there but for some reason not done it, chastise yourself now and get yourself to the club. You will not regret it. Will most definitely be going back to play again.

2 Fantastic courses. An absolute must play in the Midlands. why have I
Had the best golfing day today.£55 winter rate in March for 2 top courses. Superb drainage, firm fairways. Highgate is longer and Lodge is even more woodland & picturesque. I love the heathland sections on both courses and liken them to parts of Formby, North Hants and Notts Hollinwell, and the woodland sections are like Forest Pines, Formby and Woburn. There are so many 'WOW' moments. If we weren't so pushed for time I'd be taking photos on every hole.
Just love the heather lined fairways and some of the bunkers with heather edges making them true hazards. Some of the greens are framed by fir trees which makes it like Formby.
Even though all the greens had been hollowtyned and sanded and ran rather poorly (my putting stats were killed) I can see this course will be incredible in the summer.
I was raving to all my golf buddies about Beau Desert a few months ago but with 2 outstanding courses here I think BD has been eclipsed by Enville as my favourite inland course in England.
Already planning my next visit and a visit from my work's golf society!
In the summer £90 for a full day on 2 courses will be well worth it. I'd rather save my £25-30 for mediocre courses and play here.
Food in the club house bar was high quality, fresh and quick (£6 for a sandwich and a coke!) pretty decent value.
Didn't get a chance to use the practice facililities but fellow GolfShake ambasador Mel Davies said they are really good..especially the short game.

We were invited to play a end of year fixture here, we were told it would be on the Lodge course, which initially we were a little disappointed however I have to say it is just as good if not better than the Highgate, some beautiful holes not to long and a fair test of golf, considering the weather the course was really dry and in good condition.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful what a place, first time and the only shame was the weather and that I couldn’t get a buggy as none left . The greens quality was a ten and the rest of the golf course well manicured to a level I’ve rarely seen. Love the clubhouse a great day had by allReviewer Rating

Great few days
Had a week playing several courses in the midlands with a group of friends, We played both of Envilles courses during the week, I preferred the Lodge but that might because it was a little shorter and I dont hit the ball that far now. Loved the par 3's and the Courses were in prime condition lovely greens with Approaches you can easily putt from. Heather was in flower which made it look even better.Reviewer Rating
