Felt Rushed

Went on Duxbury Golf corse today, felt under alot of pressure and very rushed from the 3rd hole onwards. Granted we where pretty new to golf but we've played 2 other corses and not had any problems.
Had someone from the office come out on a buggy to tell us to hurry up on the 5th hole.
3rd hole we had the players behind us hitting golf balls at us when we where on the putting green.
I really wouldn't recommend if your looking for a relaxing game. I'm not sure if everyone is sticking to the tee times or there to close together.
Course was OK was some bunkers that looked like they had been flooded and some of the fairways are a little boggy.
We left after the 11th hole because just felt like we where being bullied off to be honest. Really knocked our confidence today and probably wont be going back.

Poor Course Management’s

Played on a very wet course( which we knew we would get), but tee times were only 8mins apart meaning a lot of waiting between holes. This ruined the round as you couldn’t get a rhythm. Paid £22 at a weekend which in winter is a lot as other local municipals have lowered their costs!

Avoid this place

Although Duxbury is a picturesque course players should not confuse picturesque for being good, there can't, for example, be many course putting holes in the greens in July.
The course is a municipal and all the issues associated to municipal golf can be found in abundance here, especially it's biggest issue bar incredibly slow play and sadly not just by players who do not know any better.

This course was the biggest disappointment I have ever had playing golf courses, It was absolutely shocking and well below the standard in terms of how well it was kept. Fairways are very thick and have been cut the width of a machine to the minimum and the grass left in piles up the fairway. The greens are tiny and also very heavy with grass with no fringe and a sort of run off from rough to the green. Not kept to any sort of standard at all and It is actually set in a very nice woodland and has great facilities but you would be better off playing on your local field. BE WARNED SHOCKING !!!!!!!

Played this course today 05/06/2014 and I was very disappointed to say the least, uneven and uncut tee’s, grass cuttings covering the fairways and greens slower than the M25 to name a few. I can’t comment on any holes after the 8th because by them I had seen enough and headed for the car park! As we were leaving we were approached by a marshal checking tickets, I explained the course was a mess and we wouldn't be coming back to be told my standards were too high? So I suggest if you do have any standards and you are aware what makes a decent course give this place a miss!

I had the displeasure of playing this course. The layout is good. That's about as good as it gets. The tees are shabby, the greens are worse and you can't tell the difference between fairways and rough. The place was virtually under water.it was soaking. It's a shame this place is totally unloved it just looks like a cash cow for the council. Very very poor I would avoid it at all costs until someone starts to look after it. Rant over. Played 19/5/2013.

The course has one of the best layouts in the country, but sadly is one of the worst kept courses in recent years! What was once a well manicured and excellent course is now more of a hackers track, with rough tee beds divot filled fairways, rough that is either stupidly long or simply has piles of grass cutting littered every where! And the greens well let's just say iv seen other muni's with better tees than duxburys greens! When it's wet it's unplayable and when it's dry it's still wet! Drainage is non existent! To be honest it's a shame as this could quite easily be the best pay and play in the country but sadly it's not and has diteriated beyond comprehension in the last 5 years or so!

Buy a leaf blower!

I love the Duxbury lay out, it has some fantastic holes picked out amongst the trees & the water. The 6th is a tester, the tee off from the 10th never easy & the 12th is just superb.
Unfortunately the perennial problem of poor greens remains. Topped this week by millions of leaves. I know it's a tree lined course, but I've never seen so many leaves on any other course. You couldn't see the 5th or 13th greens. Get a leaf blower!!

At first glance its a nice course, when you arrive it has practice nets and a couple of practice greens, a great layout and some lovely holes, a few challenges too... But its all entirely let down by the greens, Ive played this course 4 times, twice 2 years ago, once last year and today, and every time the greens have been utterly shocking. I reckon the staff will blame the recent dry weather and last 2 times I only played (reluctantly) because a friend booked it. I will honestly never return, any compliments from other reviewers are either members or never played another course before. The biggest part of golf is the greens and these poorly mown, inconsistent patchy greens are terrible.
Credit where credit is due, all of the staff are lovely and the shop and restaurant/cafe are really nice... but as far as golf goes, the greens need some drastic improvement. Had a good day though, hit 33 points off HC of 7
