TEX WILLIAMSON.
I have been playing this course for several years now, however each time I have played it "depending on the weather conditions " it plays so different. The new green keeper MARK SNEEP as really taken the course to new levels, and I can not wait for the summer period with the work he has done on the greens to take fruition. So congratulations to everyone of the many people who have been working on the course since the begining of the year, I for one thank you.Reviewer Rating

Hidden Beauty
Having heard from numerous sources of a "beautiful little course" just South of Selby I decided to give Drax a go. Not expecting too much initial, I was soon surprised to find what I would call a hidden beauty which needs the word spreading about. The greens were fantastic and it was clear to see the greens staff taking great pride in their work as the tee boxes and fairways were also immaculate. There are a few querky holes with ponds and hazards to catch you out if you get complacent.
Definitely a recommend and I am telling everyone I know about it!

Exactly what golf should be
As an experienced golfer I can say that this course is very well maintained, an excellent routing with fun and memorable golf holes. However, I was compelled to leave this review because of the fantastic attitude of the staff at Drax (specifically Kevin Harrison). I played this course with my girlfriend for her first time on a golf course. Upon arrival I’ve never felt so welcomed at a golf club. Kevin introduced himself to me and my girlfriend, figured out the best way for us to get onto the course with as little pressure as possible (not easy given a club competition was going on), and all in all made my girlfriend feel at home on the golf course. He came and checked in with us as he walked past after 4 or so holes to check that we were enjoying ourselves.People like Kevin are exactly what golf needs right now to ensure that ladies feel welcomed into the golf world. Had my girlfriend had a different experience she may have walked away from the game, but instead she enjoyed herself thoroughly and is keen to play again.

Good Course, Bad Timing
First time trying the course and fairly new to golf, overall course is great if a little compact, the 18 is played over only 12/13 holes so you double over yourself a few times and it can be a little confusing which hole is next due to the layout. However the holes themselves are great, some down and uphill holes look great and really add to the challenge. We went at start of April and course could do with a few touch ups before the busy summer period i think, a few temp greens on some holes drag it down, with these temp greens not being maintained very well or of a suitable size, a bad end to some great holes. It says to check in at the bar before you start but we were told we didnt need to, instead walk to the course and have proof of purchase in case a course guide asks us.Some Temp out of bound areas marked by wire construction fencing takes away from the look of some holes and the course overall, but i'd say in summer when hopefully all the greens are back in action, the other issues shouldnt be an issue, be sure to scout the course using apps and the guide beforehand as we needed it to find our way a few times. Will definitely be back but not straight away, it makes good use out of a small space for a good variety of courses, but the small space does bring its own issues. However for the price as (we got a hot deal of £20 in total for 2 people) cant really grumble too much.

Enjoyed it again, friendly and quirky
Second time we've played here as a society and it is one of the friendliest courses in the area. Always enthusiastic and helpful people on site to start your day off nicely. Course was exactly the same with the same issues around playing some holes twice but it didn't really impact too much. The free drop GUR around makes some holes too easy and the greens were a bit uneven in places. Overall another enjoyable experience and we will return I am sure !Reviewer Rating

Nice course, could be better
We had been recommended to this course and as we were mid COVID rules, we thought we would try it. The staff there were so helpful and really welcoming. The course itself was really nice, but there is a large amount of GUR close to the fairways which is a free drop and makes it too easy on some holes as you can smash the ball anywhere and its a free drop. Some holes you play twice which resulted in some near misses as the different tee positions for the same hole arent necessarily looking at each other (if you are new the course). Having said that, some lovely holes and on a blazing hot day it suited our needs. Although I enjoyed it, I probably won't play it again.Reviewer Rating

Hidden gem
This is the 2nd time I've played drax and wow it was in fabulous condition today with the greens being receptive and rolling true ,its not the longest course so game management is needed if you want a low score but it was a joy to play.Reviewer Rating
