Beautiful Condition
Not the cheapest but grab a twilight deal and you won't feel so bad.The course as you would expect in August on a hot day, was flawless. Stunning,
Both the Par5's were in the front 9 and I enjoyed them.

Fantastic course and hospitallity
I played here for the first time in November with H2KGS, a well established society. We have had an enormous amount of rain over the last 6 weeks and the week before I was on a course in mud that really shouldn't have been open. Cowdray was in very good condition from T, fairway bunkers through to greens. Can't wait to go back. I would recommend to anyone.Reviewer Rating

Cowdray on Monday 7th October was in fabulous nick.Played my best round in eons - much to the dismay of my playing partners and all other society competitors present.

Played on 1st October in a group of 9 so three x 3 balls. The course was in excellent condition despite a huge rainstorm before we teed off - so the course definitely drains well. The tees, fairways and greens were generally in first class order and are clearly well maintained. In some respects the course is challenging but it is also forgiving. There are well planned hazards and many of the holes offer angled fairways so you need to drive off with care! We were lucky to have clear weather following the storm and were blessed with some wonderful views across the downs and surrounding countryside. Regarding the off-course facilities, the club is well appointed and we were welcomed with enthusiasm by the pro-shop staff - we rented two buggies and they were good quality. Our one criticism would be that the speed of service in the upstairs bar/restaurant was poor and if felt as if the kitchen/bar was understaffed even though there were not many customers in the club-house at that time - to be fair, we were told that there was some sort of an official inspection going on so the slow service may have been a temporary blip. To summarise, all of our group were impressed and had an enjoyable day - we will definitely return.Reviewer Rating

When we played the course it had been after a couple of days of heavy, February rain, so the greens and fairways were a little softer than one might hope for, but it was clear to see that this is a track that receives a fair bit of TLC.
The fairways are pretty forgiving from the tee, but the greens are fairly well protected by a lot of deep bunkers. The heavy sand doesn't make them any easier to navigate out of them.
As suggested earlier, there are a number of climbs and drops to be negotiated, but that's just part of the local terrain that provides a very scenic backdrop to Cowdray Park, and is a big part of why it's such a delight to play there.
You can pick any number of favourite holes here, but I'm going to go with the 4th, a dogleg par 4 that climbs left and up around trees, with views of the South Downs to the right.
As for the club, I got a very warm welcome in the pro shop, and the breakfast was as good a breakfast as I've ever had anywhere.

It was a shame that the club didn't sort out the slow players as I felt the need to call the clubhouse to ask for assistance when there were 3 groups waiting on one tee, but no help was forthcoming.
The course itself was great and I would definitely play again, but another slow day like the last would probably be the final round there.
