Always a challenge
I have played Copthorne a number of times and it is always a good challenge. It does suffer in the wet conditions - more than most courses - but on it's day a complete pleasure to play.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course ????
Lovely course, played well considering the amount of rain recently - mature tree-lined course - greens, tees all in good condition for time of year. Warm welcome and friendly members - will be visiting again.Reviewer Rating

Classic quality course
Booked discounted rate online otherwise quite expensive green fee. Very nice layout. Tree-lined so straight driving required. Rough not too bad so balls usually findable but chipping out a useful skill to have here! Greens excellent. Staff friendly and accommodating. Nice beer selection in bar(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 82 Handicap: 9.5)

What a difference a year makes.
Played last year in the long hot spell and vowed to come back when the course was greener and in better condition. Not disappointed with the course, very disappointed however with my golf that did not do the course justice.
I always feel one of the signs of a good course is that you can remember the majority of the holes as they are all different. Copthorne does fill this criteria in spades.
It is a course you do either need to play several times to tame it or have a very good course guide on your GPS as there are several ditches and streams around to catch the unwary.
All aspects of the course were very good, tees, bunkers and greens were all in great condition.
The greens were devilish fast when we played have some ‘interesting’ borrows and undulations to test your putting.
Good service in the pro shop. Very good bacon butty to start but have to say disappointing Scampi and Chips for lunch. No veg or salad and suspect cooking oil not hot enough. But I am being really picky!
Good practice facilities but some are across the road from the clubhouse.
Cannot wait to play it again next year on my golf tour.

Hidden gem
Haven't played here for @ 4 yrs but course as always immaculately kept. Notice a number of trees ben removed and the Rhodadendrums, but still tight and with lots of character. Shame about the cost on a Bank Holiday afternoon. Would like to come back soon.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 90 Handicap: 16.6)

Fairly forgiving flat parkland course, very well maintained, good greens. the holes over the road are more interesting than 1 and 18. No golf shoes in bar.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 102 Handicap: )

Enjoyable
A decently kept course and provided a few challenges along the way, particularly as the course layout has apparently changed and the GPS watches were of no use whatsoever. Still an enjoyable outingReviewer Rating

Quality course
Really nice layout. Tree-lined so accuracy important. Usually in great condition on heath-like turf. Really nice relatively flat greens with plenty of subtle breaks. Always a pleasure to play(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 81 Handicap: 8.2)

good course
A longish course with lots of tree lined fairways. Consequently lots of leaves on fairways and greens. But for time of year is normal. There were several staff with leaf blowers to clear as much as possible. Worth a play if in the area.(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 95 Handicap: 19.4)

Would play again when it is green!
Played in a society in July and with the weather being sunny since April expected parched fairways, hopefully tended green and a lot of run on the ball with some wicked bounces. Which is exactly what we got! with the course in the main being tree lined there was the odd patch of green about and in the main the fairways did run reasonably true. The green were very good you could pitch a ball in and it would hold. I think, for vert good reason, the greenkeeper was keeping the greens fairly long due to the weather which did make them slower than you would have expected. There is a good variety of holes and with a number of ditches around the course. Worth either having a course map or a good rangefinder with you. One suspects that many of the ditches will be water-filled in normal weather conditions.
The course in the main is across a busy road with only the 1st and 18th on the ,club house' side. Not an issue but it also noted there are some quite long walks from green to tee.
Clubhouse was well appointed and the food was to the usual golf club 'hearty' standard.
As has been mentioned you would be well advised to read the clubs dress code and dress accordingly. Not a problem for me as I do think (old git that I am!) that a standard of dress and appearance is good on a golf course.
Would certainly like to play again when the conditions are more akin to a normal British summer!

Disappointed with the condition
Overall its a good layout. However the condition of the course was not great. Some of the fairways and greens were poor. For £50 we expected more. The 18th was out of play due to a junior comp taking place. Partner was forced to buy white socks as light grey was against dress code rules - wow.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 18.4)
