Overpriced and underwhelmed
I would imagine that during the summer months this course will come into its own as generally it is set in a lovely area. However during the winter months it is at best shabby and uninviting. The patchy and untidy car park doesn't exactly welcome you, as does the side of the clubhouse which looks like it's been blown away. The course condition itself is average for the time of year, with the expected presence of beer cans and sandwich wrappers visible as you pass along. Fairways and tee boxes showing signs of overuse over the past few weeks, and signs across the course of incomplete projects still work in progress. However what lets the course down is first of all the amount of OOB and distance markers that are either broken, in need of painting or those that have just been thrown into hedgerows or left laying around. Secondly the course in places does appear to be a dumping ground for redundant and broken golf equipment, as we came across a couple of broken umbrellas, broken club shafts and in one wooded area a discarded golf buggy, a general tidy up would not go amiss. However the main issue that in effect ruined our round was the behaviour of some of the members which really does not reflect good on the club. We were stuck behind two club members that for some reason decided that at peak weekend time it would be a good idea to share a range finder as they went along. The pace of play was ridiculous to say the least until they reluctantly and belatedly allowed us to play through, but not before they reminded us they were members, as if that afforded them some sort of additional privileges. Having negotiated these 2 players we were then unfortunate to then be stuck behind 4 further members who appeared to be engaged in some sort of personal competition, and with no regard for golfers backed up behind them failed to allow us to play through for the final 6 holes of our round, which took some 120 minutes. All in all very disappointing that based on the amount charged our day did not meet up to expectations, and both the course and its members need some serious improvements.

Tired Course
This normally attractive course is showing signs of wear and tear, and clear indications of overuse. Taking into consideration the wet weather of late the course does appear more worse for wear than other courses we have played recently. Not helped by numerous maintenance and remedial unfinished projects scattered around the course. Tee boxes mainly blocks of mud, fairways tinged mainly brown with mud, caused by trolley and buggy tracks. Greens saturated, and the fringes developing a muddy appearance. The call to stop buggies has come too late, the course gives the impression of being a sick patient during the winter in need of a break and some convalescence.Reviewer Rating

Poor day out
Heard a lot about this course but unfortunately the day didn't meet expectations, but it must be said not down to the course itself. Tee boxes were generally good with a couple of exceptions, greens need some attention on the majority of those we played. The bunkers were very poor, many with little sand, not helped by the recent wet weather which made them into mud baths. Fairways on the whole in good condition with a few buggies tracks visible, also some areas waterlogged which is to be expected. However the main issue we had was how busy the course was, and it seemed tee times were set to ridiculous intervals. We were held up on most holes starting on the temporary tee on the 2nd hole. From there it became a drag, not helped by the fact that nobody appeared to be interested in letting people play through. Also no signs of any marshals on the course, so gave the impression it was a general free for all. A lot of comments from golfers including members as we queued up ready to tee off, at one point we waited 15 minutes on one hole. By the time we got to the 14th hole with people queuing up the hill towards the tee we called it a day after over 4 hours. Such a pity that a beautiful course set in an ideal location, all be it with a lot of maintenance work required is spoilt by what seems amateurish organisation. Other golfers were complaining about the societies and weekend competitions that are causing issues but as a visitor it would be unfair to comment on this, but there is obviously some problems getting round the course in an acceptable time which needs to be addressed. Maybe somebody needs to take the course administration by the scruff of the neck and sort it out.Reviewer Rating

Overpriced than others nearby
Well laid out with trees in some strategic areas. Tees could do with some work and the greens need watering but the clubhouse patio that has just been built is a good additionReviewer Rating

The bunkers have no sand in them and on many occasions reach the bottom where there is hard mud or pieces of liner. The greens are in decent condition all year round but reguarly aren't monitored and have many wormcasts, pitchmarks and they keep the pin positions the same for weeks. In a way this is good as they cant seem to fit another hole and repair the other one, resulting in an un-level bump in the middle of the green filled with mud or a concrete block. And bewared of the monthly spikes or the annually sanding where they put about 2 inches deep of sand onto the green and simply leave it there, which is ironic as there is none in the bunkers. Also, during the hot and dry summer months, the greens are bone dry as they are never watered, you simply cannot make a pitchmark!
The staff are friendly, however, they don't have a clue how to run a golf course. There are no set times reserved for members only. They allow any old tom, dick, and harry on with no dress code, no one checks for membership, people who have booked days in advance have people turn up and just jump on, and allow people to play the back nine first even though groups are scheduled around the 8th, 9th, and 10th. To just sum the course up you have horses on the course, dog walkers walking across the fairway and even lost hikers asking for directions and to finish it off you have one of the owners driving his ford focus on the course in harsh winter months, ruining the fairways if they're not already 3ft long. The course is sometimes flooded and they're allowing buggies out.
