Our society visited Cold Ashby as part of annual sorte to local clubs. The staff were very welcoming and the food sufficient for the golfers needs. There are 15 in our Society and we had coffee and bacon roll on arrival, 9 holes, sandwiches and chips for Lunch and then 18 holes. There is a well stocked, but smallish club shop and buggies are available at £9/9 holes. Locating the course can be a challenge as there are only two signs directing the way from the village and then you travel down a lane for some 3/4 mile to reach the clubhouse. The course itself is a challenge for those not physically fit, it is set on a hillside valley and is very up and down - brings a different challenge to your game. We played all 27 holes, playing the Elkington in the morning - a very good course with small narrow fairways - yardage markers are a little obscure on this 9 as they refer to the shot saver card (purchase in shop) and not your standard 100/150yd distance markers so can be a little confusing. There are some fantastic views to admire from this course so make the most of it. In the afternoon we played the remaining 18 holes on the Winwick and Ashby, where the yardage markers fall back to tradition. The par 4\'s are not overly long most 300-350 yards and their opportunities to challenge yourself with a couple of driveable par 4\'s. The fairways were in excellent condition with most of the greens in good condition. This course is well worth a visit and if you are playing 27 it might be worth investing in that buggy!!

Great Turnaround- top conditions

It is only less than 3 months since this club became a members cooperative and what progress already! Fairways well cut, greens running true, new flags and cups in place. Club house has been revamped and pro shop improved and re kitted with range of new stock.
Driving range has also been over hauled and fitted out.
All positive changes and more are being planned.
You must visit to appreciate the work done to-date.

A great day out, the greens were in fabulous condition. Theres 27 holes, we played the red and blue courses, a bit hilly on a hot day but gosh - what great views to take in while you catch your breath!
Highly recommend the BLT baguette - it's a monster!

played a round in July 2013 with a member and 2 other guests. The course occupies a hilly piece of land which is particularly exposed to the prevailing winds, so its a great test of your wind play. significant changes in elevation making for some dramatic downhill (views) and tough uphill shots. small greens make it a good test and its great fun. bring oxygen supply for cardiac hill!

Cold Ashby is a fabulous, if challenging course. Having 3 separate 9 holes means you can always get a game. Everyone is exceptionally friendly, pro's, staff, other players and new members are always made welcome. There is a fabulous ladies drop in coffee morning on Thursdays which provides excellent coaching from the pros and is brilliant value for money.

I've been a member here twenty years and absolutely love the place. As with all courses the conditions change throughout the year but this adds to the challenge, it's always good fun to take guests along and see their reactions as this is not just another flat tree lined course! The friendliness of Cold Ashby takes some beating and with 27 holes the value of membership is superb.

overall a very good golf course, tough in parts but forgiving on quite a few holes.
you could shoot a very low score for a medium handycapper.

Enjoyable course, if not the longest, especially in the summer.

Greens were in great nick when I played Winwick/Ashby loop. Nice variety of holes and lay-out works well.

If you don't like playing off uneven lies or hill-walking try somewhere else or hire a buggy.

decent course, needs improvement

The course had some nice views, yet lacked nourishment for the greens and fairways. The fairways were very uneven and the grass was way too long, almost like it was the rough. However the course was quite challenging and apart from the negatives, everything else was very good.

Bit pricey for condition

Tee times where too close together. We had 9.20 tee off but didn't tee off until 9.40 as there was a back log at the 1st tee. Not a great start. Course is a good challenge and reasonably well laid out, apart from the 10th and 11th which are far too close to the road in my mind. The course wasn't in great condition. The tee boxes where all chewed up and the greens where not well looked after. Maybe all of this is due to the time of year and I would play again in the summer to give it another chance. I felt ?27 for the round was a bit steep considering the condition of the course at the time though.

Stunning course

I was lucky enough to win a competition to take myself and 11 others for a Golf Society day including bacon rolls and coffee.

The course is absolutely stunning. Was still a little long in places and the rough was very penal, due to the bad weather we had in Feb/March they've not been able to mow it as they would wish.

Everyone enjoyed the day and would all be happy to return.
