Society Day

Played in a society Day and found this to be one of the worst courses I have ever played.
Fairways and tee areas acceptable however greens were absolutely diabolical. Covered in bare patches and bobbles. Would not return

Society day out

Played here in Sep 2018. Course is as hilly as you could wish for and has some stunning views . That’s the good bit. It’s poorly designed, sadly lacking in signage to give you some idea as to where you are going and the greens were shocking. Great for a walk but give the golf a miss.

Played in May 2014. The greens were very long and extremely slow with lots of bare patches.
The staff were friendly and the food was great however the course needs some TLC.

The Ash.D

A poor golf course, built on a piece of land unsuitable for purpose. Significantly worse than courses within its local area.

The course is built into steep hillsides with clay soil which makes for poor drainage and greens that are far too soft. The course does have some good holes, particularly 3, 7, 8 and 18, which take advantage of sweeping natural elevations up and down but with generous landing areas.

Many holes however feature poorly defined hazards, blind landing areas, and at only 6000 yards off the back tees the course is hemmed in to an unsuitably small site.

Cant fault the welcome which is very friendly. Driving range is adequate for warming up. Facilities compared to similar type value courses are very basic and far from modern.

Overstone Park a better pay and play course and if looking for a top quality visit, Northamptonshire County GC should be where to go.

Played the course just after Covid lockdown.

Restrictions in place. However, the welcome in the pro shop was excellent & the course was in good condition but the bunkers were GUR.

It looks very well kept from the high vantage points of the hills, but the greens were in need of a lot of work. Really hard and inconsistent

Very dated club house but staff were friendly enough. With regards to the course it is very hilly but not very well kept. Some of the greens were absolutely terrible and the fairway on some holes wasn't much better. Probably will not play there again.

Decent enormous go course, dated clubhouse area that could be much better. Course plays up and down hills all day.

Played the blue and yellow nines in April 2013 during a society day. Some nice holes but let down badly by maintenance. A number of tees were shabby and uneven, and the greens were, I'm sorry to say, some of the worst I have played on in 30 years. Bone hard to the point where not one of our 4-ball had to repair a pitch mark in 36 holes - I hit a 7 iron into one green which bounced as though it had hit a cart path. Add to that fluffy, uneven growth on the greens, making pace a nightmare to judge, and chipping/putting became a lottery. A pity, because this place has real potential.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the catering good. Despite the course condition it represented a good value day out, and I do accept there may be a maintenance programme in place. But from what I saw there is much work to do.

im a local in the area and ive played here 20 times at least, however i dont think its getting any better poor drainage shabby greens and fairways. The one thing i really like is it teaches you to play golf shots you wouldnt normally play or practise, all in all its over priced and there are better courses to play or become a member of around the area. £29 for a buggy at the weekend is just daylight robbery, COLD ASHBY YOUR NOT THE GOLF COURSE YOU THINK YOU ARE, RE-THINK YOUR PRICING STRUCTURE. you just might get more people playing again.

Lovely veiws from the 3rd tee

The greens were a little bumpy as looked like they had just been hollowtined, and was a bit wet in places, but after all the rain we have had in the past few days, it held up well. The climb up to the 7 th green and onto the 8th tee still does not get any easier

decent course, needs improvement

The course had some nice views, yet lacked nourishment for the greens and fairways. The fairways were very uneven and the grass was way too long, almost like it was the rough. However the course was quite challenging and apart from the negatives, everything else was very good.

Bit pricey for condition

Tee times where too close together. We had 9.20 tee off but didn't tee off until 9.40 as there was a back log at the 1st tee. Not a great start. Course is a good challenge and reasonably well laid out, apart from the 10th and 11th which are far too close to the road in my mind. The course wasn't in great condition. The tee boxes where all chewed up and the greens where not well looked after. Maybe all of this is due to the time of year and I would play again in the summer to give it another chance. I felt ?27 for the round was a bit steep considering the condition of the course at the time though.
