Fantastic course, well worth the visit
Brilliant course. Amazing views, with the majority of the holes feeling 'stand alone', framed by trees. Not the longest course but challenge is still there! Course was in excellent condition (apart from a bit of burrowing damage by badgers on a couple of holes). The members were also very friendly. Highly recommend this course.Reviewer Rating

Uneven in every way.
Firstly, this is a very hilly course, so although it's not that long it's a tough walk. I walked both times I've been but it seemed that most of the others on the course were in buggies. I guarantee you'll wish you had one when you're walking up the 16th.Unfortunately it's also a uneven course in other ways. I've played here a couple of times now and came away both times with the same impression - it would be a really good course as a 12-14 holer (and as a 9-hole course it could be amazing).
In places it's as good as it gets, in some places it's fair to middling, and a couple of holes are downright poor. I particularly like the run of holes from 2-7 and then again from 11-15. Some holes I really, really, disliked; the 8 in particular (ridiculous design, ugly from the tee, and spoils the course imo) although the 15th and 16th I would also gladly skip if possible. The condition of the course is a bit variable too. In places it's lush and velvety, and in others places a bit patchy and poor. Also, too many tees were off mats for my liking.
This could be a great course, and is now in places, but too many poor holes and a few rough corners drag it down overall.
The welcome from everyone was very good when we arrived but by the time we finished the clubhouse was closed, so I can't really comment on the food and drink as both times I've been here I've not really had the chance to try them out.
Overall a good course, but could be much, much better.

The views are superb, and you say 'WOW' a lot when standing on the tee and look down the fairway. Yes its hilly but without the hills it would just be yet another flat average course. Charge your batteries and enjoy a great round of golf.

Outstanding consistency
The outstanding consistency in the course both including the greens and fairways, Gives you some challenging holes with stunning views, The new challenging 8th par 3, and the expertly designed 13th hole. Followed by the friendly welcome in the clubhouse followed by the best cooked and fair proportioned snack I have ever had in 50 years of playing golf.Reviewer Rating

Don't be fooled by the short yardage
A querky course with several blind holes and several holes which cross other fairways. Very hilly and long walks between greens and tees. Greens are very true with subtle borrows. Areas off the greens include very deep rough or dry bare ground making accuracy to fairways and greens vital for a goood score. The short yardage on the card does not tell the whole story. Difference in level between greens and tees and strategically placed trees make course knowledge a very useful factor.Play it but be prepared for a tough walk and some very tricky shot choices.

Forest Gem
What a great find in Buckinghamshire! This is a lovely course cut into a forest in the Chiltern Hills, with some awesome views over the fields and town of Aston Clinton. It's challenging because it's tight, so your accuracy really has to be pretty good. There's a lot of hill walking involved up and down the valleys so bear in mind if you're not taking a buggy. Nice sand in bunkers and good running greens, some of the fairways could've been cut a little more. A pleasant welcome to the club and good practice facilities to get you going. Two bits of advice for others, 1. be aware that there are a lot of instructions to follow as many of the holes cross or are very close to one another, so you have to pay attention to the signs and signals as to when you are safe to play. Furthermore, if you are playing solo, I was told to start the 14th hole not from the tee box, but from the top of the hill as there was no one with me to stand at the viewing point to make sure I didn't hit anyone. 2. there can be quite a bit of blue chemical spray used on the course, so be mindful on the greens collecting your ball that your hands can turn blue!Reviewer Rating

Excellent, but hilly location
Lovely and interesting course, but it is very hilly. We had buggies which helped and it would be tiring. But whilst short, its very tight, some really lovely holes (especially 11 and 12) and greens were excellent. Plus all staff really friendly.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 87 Handicap: 18.2)

It is very hilly though, so be prepared to play a few shots out of breath.
