The course is hard but you would not expect anything else, fairways are narrow, water and bunkers in every line you try, approach shots will stick on the greens but be short or long and you are in trouble. However throw caution to the wind especially on the 14th and 15th and you have a real good chance of scoring.
I could not recommend the 2010 any higher

Only gripe was the too much walking between holes and too many tarmac paths for fat American tourists as opposed to us fat lazy English!!
Facilities were first class and the staff very friendly and helpful. A credit to Wales.

Where to start! We played both the Roman Road and Montgomery courses as a group of 4 over the last few days.Unfortunately they were very wet, expected due to the amount of rain we’ve had this winter. Despite this the greens were in brilliant shape it was the fairways that suffered the most.
All of the staff were friendly and keen to help, especially Roman in the pro shop spot on with all of our questions very intelligent lad so props to him.

Waterlogged and unplayable. Don't go.
Cynical to keep what is an unplayable and waterlogged course "open". They take your money ,allow you to turn up and then say you can try it out and will credit you if you don't like it . Totally unprofessional and cynical attitude to golfers. They know the course is unplayable, slippery, muddy ,bunkers full of water .it's dangerous to walk around ,took 25 minutes to play one hole ...plugged balls on the fairways .A very bad joke . Celtic Manor owner and Directors should be ashamed to allow this .why dont they just be honest and call you to say don't come ??Reviewer Rating

Played the Roman Road 26/10/23. It's incredible they have the course open and ask for green fees. With the recent heavy rain the course was unplayable. Every fairway had rising water and you were walking in ankle deep mud. Ball plugged and you were fortunate to find your ball on the fairways.Greens were good but not an enjoyable experience. I drove 3 hours to get there and only played 4 holes.
Don't play the course in the winter.
i answered I would recommend and play again but only in the dry months

Not for the faint-hearted. Really need to plot your way around. And the ground was HEAVY. Club up and pray you get more ball than mudReviewer Rating
