Truly outstanding from the moment you arrive at the clubhouse, the level and quality of service and the facilities on offer go over and above what anyone could expect.
The course is hard but you would not expect anything else, fairways are narrow, water and bunkers in every line you try, approach shots will stick on the greens but be short or long and you are in trouble. However throw caution to the wind especially on the 14th and 15th and you have a real good chance of scoring.
I could not recommend the 2010 any higher

The 2010 is an amazing course and even though it still showed signs of the trouncing it received from the Ryder Cup crowds around the edges the course was in brilliant condition even the newly aeriated greens were smooth and true. It is one course where every hole has a WOW! factor. The whole experience was brilliant from the vcery friendly staff to the brilliant facilities and not forgetting the amazing course. I will definately be going back. Especially as i won a free round on the par 3 challenge.

Played Roman Road - Hole for hole this is a fantastic course - Although we played in bright autumn sunshine off the fairways it was very wet, hence lots of plugged balls! Fairways were amazingly firm and the greens in excellent condition considering the time of year.
Only gripe was the too much walking between holes and too many tarmac paths for fat American tourists as opposed to us fat lazy English!!
Facilities were first class and the staff very friendly and helpful. A credit to Wales.

Mixed Opinions

Where to start! We played both the Roman Road and Montgomery courses as a group of 4 over the last few days.

Unfortunately they were very wet, expected due to the amount of rain we’ve had this winter. Despite this the greens were in brilliant shape it was the fairways that suffered the most.

All of the staff were friendly and keen to help, especially Roman in the pro shop spot on with all of our questions very intelligent lad so props to him.

Absolutely shocking. Courses should never be open, completely flooded. By far the worst condition courses in the country. No email to warn you of the conditions. Instead they allow you to drive there from Kent to find out they are offering an adverse weather procedure. Why would I want credit after driving 3hrs to play what is supposedly a championship course. Course was more like a flooded farm

There was no fairways it was like playing in a cow field, tee boxes and greens were just about playable.
Obviously the amount of rain has not helped but the course should was pretty much unplayable.

Waterlogged and unplayable. Don't go.

Cynical to keep what is an unplayable and waterlogged course "open". They take your money ,allow you to turn up and then say you can try it out and will credit you if you don't like it . Totally unprofessional and cynical attitude to golfers. They know the course is unplayable, slippery, muddy ,bunkers full of water .it's dangerous to walk around ,took 25 minutes to play one hole ...plugged balls on the fairways .A very bad joke . Celtic Manor owner and Directors should be ashamed to allow this .why dont they just be honest and call you to say don't come ??

Good morning,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

I am sorry to hear your recent experience left you disappointed. We have experienced exceptionally high volumes of rainfall throughout October and through the first fortnight of November. This has resulted in wetter and more challenging conditions.

We work with our estates team to determine whether the rules of golf can be applied and make an informed decision. We try to remain as transparent as possible and our adverse weather policy tries to be flexible providing golfers with the opportunity to continue to play but also provides the option of a monetary voucher on days where we have received significant rainfall.

I do hope your recent experience has not deterred you from returning in the future as the team would be delighted to welcome you back.

Kind regards,

Brian

Played the Roman Road 26/10/23. It's incredible they have the course open and ask for green fees. With the recent heavy rain the course was unplayable. Every fairway had rising water and you were walking in ankle deep mud. Ball plugged and you were fortunate to find your ball on the fairways.
Greens were good but not an enjoyable experience. I drove 3 hours to get there and only played 4 holes.
Don't play the course in the winter.
i answered I would recommend and play again but only in the dry months
