Scenic course bad members

Visited on a golfnow afternoon deal which was lot cheaper than advertise prices which are extortionate, got partnered with others however they had gone out meaning played solo.
Lovely course with amazing views front 9 and then more based country way back. Managed a birdie and 99 having not played it before.
However pace of play was too fast members behind were all grouped or buggies so had to constantly let through, some quite rude and in accommodating as course newbie
One guy even cut over skipping the turn and was right behind me every hole tee to green but didn't want play through!
May go again but only on a cheap deal as not amazing and members need a better attitude

Well worth a visit

Most holes very good with great views over the bay. 14, 15 and 16 are parkland and not so interesting. We stayed at the hotel and 1 round per day was complimentary - excellent value!

Front 9 along coastline, great views...back 9 spoilt by a factory just off the course. Generally, a pleasant course to play and cheaper than the other local coastline courses.

Good course

The course was in excellent condition and a great challenge with many different features. The only problem for me was the lack of distance markers and with a few blind holes and uphill greens, not knowing the distances is a big problem.

Lovely parkland course

Very well maintained, lush parkland course with some great views. One of my favourites in the area. Some slow play but most let faster players through. They provide a very good scorecard giving plenty of info and guidance on the course. Recommended.
My only criticism wouls be they could do with more ball cleaners and possibly some bins.

Very nice parkland course with beautiful coastal views.
Most expensive course in the local area at £55 but course plays nicely.
Greens played quick even though they had been treated.

A beautiful course with some fabulous views across the bay. There are some open spaces but also some rather different hazards of old quarries and mine shafts which have to be avoided!

Great course. great condition and views out of this world. Hugely let down by the women who was in the pro shop taking green fees. Rude and arrogant and a terrible way to start a round. Whats the point. Have played 3 times in the past couple of months and wont go back out of principle. She let the entire club down. Terrible terrible service in every way. Retrain or sack her or you will loose more regulars like me

Very good course for holiday golf . Fairways wide enough so that you don't loose balls but still tight enought to make it a test. Found the greens to have enough slope in them to make you think without the stupid slopes you find on some courses. Overall condition of the course very good, staff polite and helpfull. My only gripe was the pace of play quite slow and no ranger on duty. Would play every week if I lived there.

It was a lovely course. Wonderful views - though the weather didn't help these. For a 28 handicapper it's a bit long. Some nice holes - the 9th being my favourite. Unfortunately I'm not a good enough player to best it! But well worth playing. We were made very welcome. Would play again.

Had a weeks holiday at St Austell and played the course twice. I was fortunate on the first day as the weather was warm and the wind light. The course played well and was in good condition. There were a nice number of holes that were reachable in regulation even for short-hitters such as myself.

The second day the wind got up a little and gave me a small taste of what the course might be like when the wind blows even harder. Still enjoyed my round.

Both times I played the course wasn't very busy and I got round in 3 hours playing by myself. These were twilight tee times at 4.00pm and cost £25.

I thought that the overall package was good value and enjoyable. Wel worth a visit.

I am a member so slightly biased. This is definately one of the best courses in the area.
Course always kept in excellent condition, greens can be tricky as some undulating and two tier. Excellent views, play at first light on a sunny morning to be gobsmacked.

Carlyon Bay is on the Cornish south coast, and has magnificant views over the bay. The wind was blowing a gale, and proved a real challenge. OOB is basically the cliff edge, and best not to retrieve balls. Front 9 was difficult with the wind behind, but helped on the way back to the clubhouse. I would thoroughly recommend as a great experience and watch out for the mineshafts. The clubhouse is inviting and friendly. Excellent day out.
