The Staff are friendy and there is a real homely feeling in the Club House.
We stayed in the Cottages for 2 nights and just payed green fees but seriousy considering joining and playing weekends.
The live band last night was absoutey fantastic - what talent!
Sams Bues Breakout Band played Led Zepplin and Jon Bonnamasa and finished their session with Stairway to Heaven! Brilliant.
Thanks Mark, expert player & bar person, for the golf tips....

played at Cannons court 4-5 times now. nice little 9 hole course that you can play 2 times to make it a 18 hole. nice to start on if you not played in long time.

I really like Cannons court, it is a lovely little 9 hole course which really tests me. I have written wonderful things about this course a couple of times. But what I am about to say probably needs to be taken with a pinch of salt considering I played so badly.
The grass on the greens was annoyingly is so high as it was like putting in mid winter. If you play there week in week out then you will be used to it and don’t notice it. However for the visiting player it was horrendous, we were literally leaving putts shorts by 10-20ft on long putts. I don’t consider myself a good player but four putting is rare. I appreciate there are probably several benefits for keeping the grass a bit longer but there were extremely hard to read today and it made the game a bit of a chore when you’re on the green in regulation and four putt (multiple times).
I believe I have said this before but the lack of yardage markers is an easy win for the grounds man. Two stakes either side of the fairway at 150 and 100 yards would make the course so much more playable for those of us without distance measurers.
That said it is a lovely course and I would recommend it to you. It tests the part of my game which I struggle with as it is tight and I find myself taking a iron off the tee (although by the second 9 I had given up and slashed a driver everywhere). It is a lovely course and at £10 good value.

Canons Court is round the corner form me and i have spent the past month at their range practicing, but i played me first game for over 10 years and it was of the best courses i have played, its tight and technical which when getting back into the sport was hard let alone a complete beginner. Its a great learner course and because its tight and technical it will massively improve anybody's game, and at just £10 for 9 or 18 holes its a bargain. it is mostly ran off an honesty box which some people don't like but going up on an evening after work for 9 holes is great, and on an evening its quiet so have the course mostly to yourself,

great course for starters. a few long holes to practice driving, fairly wide and forgiving which is good for learners...driving range also available

Generally a nice short course, which punishes those who can't drive in a straight line. It is easy to get OoB here. Shame it is only 9 holes.
Course still quite soft from the bad winter. Using rubber mats until the course improves is all very well but on multiple holes it shorten an already short course which is a shame. It is a shame the rubber matted teeing area cannot be put further back on the 7th hole as this makes a longer 335 par 4 to under 200yards. The course could be improved by having yardage markers near the fairway at 150/100/50 yards and ball cleaners which work, which are simple but effective.
