Course played like they hadnt watered the green in 2 years! Couldn't hit effective approach shots and my playing partner (off 18) 5 putted twice in a row as they were so unbelievably quick!

I have been a member here for some time and although the course layout is challenging and great fun to play, you are let down by the very poor condition of the course, the tees are practicly non-existent, the fairways are very boggy and the greens are either constantly having drainage holes put in or just temporary in the middle of the boggy fairways, the 18th hasn't been open in well over 4 months. Yesterday I played 16 holes due to hole closure, and had 4 temporary greens to use! Not acceptable

Ok
12 of us played and the course was good, it was just let down by pompous club members that think that nobody else should play thief golf course.Reviewer Rating

Recent visit
Lovely weather and nice looking course, until you played. Tee boxes all uneven , rock hard and poor state.Greens rock hard, not watered, some patchy, ball was bobbling.
No Marshall or starter so everyone starts when they want.
Would feel cheated paying over 700£ a year for that.
Staff lovely and helpful, lovely setting

More course information needed
Staff were very helpful. Pull trolleys and buggies available but no electric trolleys.Course including greens in very good condition.
However, disappointed to find that such a prestigious club does not have a course planner, especially as the course is quite convoluted.
Little or no signage on the course (eg layout of the hole on each tee) doesn't help.

Good course considering conditions

Nice course good layout with good but difficult greens, nice hotel. golf practice facilities needs to be improved.

The Course was in good condition and was a challenge to play. However the round was incredibly slow, over 5 hours. There was either no control in place about when people tee off or simply trying to get as many people onto the course as possible. Queues on every tee. 4 balls not allowing 2's to play through. At least 3 groups per hole, 1 waiting, 1 in the fairway and 1 on the green. Several of the groups we were following or in front of simply gave up. Would consider playing there again but perhaps not on a weekend.

Good course, hilly in places. Tough pin positions on many greens. No lockers available for storage of clothes, possessions, etc

Quaint course & friendly family owned service from hotel & spa staff.
Hint: there are plenty of slopes that can be used in your favour... You'll probably be able to take advantage second time round!!
