Course was in good condition given the time of year and the recent wet weather. It is clearly not played on very often as it appears to be shut for most of the week, but open at the weekend. We had to carry which wasn't a problem and the course as clearly been set up to manage the winter use i.e. pins tight to front of the green on every hole, mats on most par 3. The course played fair and tight, and my dad and I had a great round. The holes are varied and have some interesting elevation changes. It helped that I had played here before as there are a number of blind tee shots. The best hole for me was the 4th. A long par 4 dogleg left, straight downhill and then back up to a large green. The course was empty and we were only 2 of 7 people to use the halfway hut! I actually won this round no Facebook, but I do not think I would pay the normal green fee of £100 odd to be honest. Clubhouse was expensive, and I found it a bit off that the visitors section didn't have any heating! The practice facilities were the best I have ever used. Overall, a great day and would recommend to anyone.

Great course . Not easy and need to think about it rather than just smashing a driver.

Lovely place to play golf. Great course and practice facilities were second to none. Only had one issue and that was the 17th green. Pin position was championship places but the 17th was a joke. 3 of us had uphill puts from about 8 feet and when two of them get within a inch of the hole then role back past where they started its not on. Apart from that amazing course.

2 lovely courses at Brocket Hall with the Palmerston my favourite. Although the Melbourne has many of the signature holes (based around the River Lea), the Palmerston is more enjoyable as an inland course, similar to the Marquess at Woburn. Fantastic practice facilities too.

This is a fantastic experience to play. Some of the holes are quite breathtaking. The first 4 holes are superb. The 4th in particular which crosses with the 16th are great looking holes and hitting over water. The 18th is a great par 5 with the option of a lay up or if you fancy a boom then go for it. Then you can take a ferry boat over the lake to reach the 18th green. We finished at 4.30 so rather than sit a couple of hours traffic back to the Midlands we ( 8 of us ) asked if we could play the front 9 again. The guys in the pro shop were fantastic and said yes of course guys , go out and enjoy.
can I also add that the practice facilities are absolutely spot on. Amazing really.
many thanks from 8 happy golfers who will now spread the word about what a fantastic venue this is.
