Great layout but not in the best condition. 11th fairway was like a poor public course. Not the most welcoming of places either other than the very friendly young lady behind the bar.

Long, difficult and unforgiving.

Playing off 18 this course was never going to be easy. You have to hit a long drive and your approach shots need to be precise otherwise the bunkers await you. Despite the challenges I really enjoyed my round once I had got the first couple of holes under my belt. Some holes are played blind so try to play with someone who is familiar with the course. The fairways and greens are superb, in fact some of the grass just prior to the greens are better than most greens at other courses. The speed of the greens was comparable to other local courses which was a bonus for me. Getting a birdie on the 15th topped off my day when my 18ft putt dropped in the hole. I look forward to another opportunity to play this course in the not too distant future.

Stunningly scenic heathland course

Broadstone always ranks high in many top 100 course listings and it definitely deserves its place. It is a stunningly scenic heathland course, spread out across a very expansive heathland area. No two holes are the same and work is underway to restore all the bunkering to the original Harry Colt designs. It requires some straight hitting as the rough/ heathland areas are hard to play from. Approaches to the greens are often very exacting so you need to be on your game to score here. It is also a very hilly course so the walk is strenuous. The only disappointing aspect of the course were the greens, which are undergoing a 3-4 year transitional process from meadow grass to poanna grass. This means the greens are inconsistent in speed and not particularly smooth. If you can overlook this, you will find a first class golf course.

Sweeping heathland

Really good course sweeping up and down through heathland. Great views around 7,8 and 9. Tough in the wind, rain and hail but enjoyable. Five is an enjoyable short par four: with trouble both sides on the tee shot, followed by a great par three. The approach on 7 could be 200 yards over a large heather canyon; there is also a lay up option down in the canyon before the heather. Another cavern comes into play at the front left of the 13th. I had around 190 in here and was suckered into it: the second shot is a tough one here, with the green appearing narrow: you need to stay right. 14 is a good hole: a downhill tee shot followed by an uphill approach with bunkers at the front; tricky approach as you cannot see the bottom of the flag. Course has great flow.

Definitely the best course around the Bournemouth Poole area. All staff were very helpful and thanks. Course was in great condition given the poor weather in the week so green staff had done an excellent job. I will be returning.

Fantastic facilities and course. Friendly welcome and great value for money, Wonderfully scenic course with great wildlife. Deer, pheasants, woodpeckers, squirrels and plenty of birds of prey were spotted but alas for me no birdies or eagles !!!

Visited mid September. Whist this is undoubtedly a very good course my experience of it was absolutely ruined by the appalling state of the greens. They were long and woolly, like puddings, and had large slits in them. Shots to the greens and putting were hugely affected. Had I been advised before playing the course of the problem the club is currently having with the greens I might have felt a little better disposed towards this experience and been more sympathetic. This round of golf represented very poor value and I could not recommend anyone to play it at this moment in time

The course was excellent except for the condition of the Greens, difficult course for the high handicappers, and we had a lady play with us that struggled to reach the fairway with her tee shots always putting her in trouble.
Wouldn't recommend it for the high handicap but a lovely course, would love to play again.
