Swamp mire

Water logged mud bath. I know its November but expected better than that. Played a council course the day before and no mud surprise surprise!! Will probably play better in summer. Greens were good but everything else useless. Water logged tee boxes and bunkers. Waste of time and money playing here in the winter.

Overpriced for visitors

Played through golfnow, paid 60 quid, it's firmly in 35-40 quid range in london. Course very muddy in october. Slow round on Sunday afternoon.

Decent Course

There were a lot of temporary greens due to previous heavy downpours. Holes that were open were generally in good nick but a lot of the greens had sand on them and/or were spiked.

Played here for the first time with a society. It was helpful to be playing with someone who had played the course before because many holes have blind tee shots or hidden hazards.
Some of the hole positions seemed punishing being placed on significant slopes - you're in the hole or off the green! I managed to par the signature 17th Hole (labelled as the UK's favourite society hole) which was encouraging.

Enjoyable visit

enjoyable course layout though nothing outstanding. The greens were in superb condition but some of the fairways have suffered badly in the drought. Tough greens to stay on. Quite a physical course to play. We were given excellent fish and chips after the game in a very pleasant clubhouse.

The day was very, very wet so it was hard work. But an enjoyable course which I would happily play again in better weather

A good quality course with some interesting holes. The 17th stands out as the best hole on the course, with a tricky approach shot over water. We had a warm welcome in the clubhouse, with some good food.

quiet setting, fairly tough walk, fairly short and tight with a lot of doglegs. Condition good, practise and warm up facilities nice and close to clubhouse. Course has improved and matured substantially last ten or 15 years, pleasantly surprised. Rating about right on here, not quite up in the top echelon of herts courses but not far behind.

The staff were courteous and excellent. The food was great. The course is scenic but the greens had been treated 3 days before we played so not in tip top condition. Would love to play this course again in a months time to allow the spring and summer to take its effect!

Fabulous course. Really enjoyed it. Fearful that the winter to come may make it hard going - there?s been so little rain yet some areas not getting sunlight were very damp. Greens & fairways no complaints.

First time around here in 4 years. Bit damp in places, more so on the back 9 which was surprising but fair enough given the recent rain I guess. Otherwise the course was in good nick and played well. Greens were also soft so took a well struck ball. Lovely clubhouse and nice play to enjoy a beer post round. Also had food as on a society day which was also excellent. Look forward to heading back in the future.
